This brand is insanely addictive. I recently bought a CHI-ZDP and loved it. Why buy another?? No good reason except for temptation. And then this SHIN-DLC arrived. Oh, my. Bigger. Solid. Sharper than anything I've ever bought. Slightly larger than the ZDP, with a wonderfully slicey curved blade. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Definitely! Oddly, despite its price and polish, this is a blade that I want to use, not pamper. I keep wanting to see if it lives up to its hype and, so far, it has. Every time. I'm hooked. My one and only complaint about these knives is the thumb stud. Somehow, it's just not quite in the right spot for me. I haven't figured out what spot would be better, though.
I EDC this knife. Very smooth action, along with exact tolerances make this knife seem custom right out of the box. Please believe what you heard, this blade is SHARP!!!!
All of the HYPE about this product was 100% accurate..!! The fit & finish are superb. The blade is CRAZY sharp!! Overall the knife is a work of art although it will be treated as my "EDC" to be used when needed. I own many knives but none of mine compare to this top of the line "BEAST". Well worth the money!!!
Amazing design and execution. Amazing finish on the scale and blade. Amazingly sharp. Perfect lockup with no stick. Smooth, buttery pivot. Zero blade play. Comes with a nice deer skin chamois for wiping off smudges. Knife is a bit heavy due to blade thickness but not heavier than same size knives with same blade gauge. Knife is not a flipper or assisted so it's not as easy as some to deploy. It's easy to open one handed for young dextrous people, using the thumb stud. Would kind of expect a deep pocket milled clip rather than cut/pressed stamped but that's ok sometimes clips catch and get bent.
This is for me, the finest pocket knife in the world. It's built better than any other knife. You can find similar steel on other knives but it's not the same. I like the DLC coating on this blade because I generally like black blades but also, this coating lets you use the knife without scratching it easily and on an expensive knife you don't want scratches but you also still want to use the thing. A knife this expensive is not for everyone, some people can't understand buying the best when something almost as good can be had for only about 100 or 200 bucks. I have those knives too. I have many knives just as sharp that look just as good, but they just aren't the same animal. This is my fourth Rockstead knife and until you have had one in your hand, you can't understand what all the fuss is about. They just get everything so right. If you are a knife lover, you need at least one Rockstead in your collection. They don't make many so if you see one you like, you better grab it while you can. I waited 8 months for this one to be available. It is my favorite BTW, but if you like smaller knives, get the KOU, it's almost the same but smaller size and price. If you need to sell a few knives to buy one of these, do it. Rocketed is so worth owning and using.
You cannot get a higher quality knife. Full stop. opens smoother than, well, words fail. Yet the detent is positive and secure. find what you like, if you can afford it, buy it. I'm sure you can get a more expensive knife, but you wont exceed the quality offered. Too bad I'm a lefty, but at this point I will carry a much less precious knife for the dirty stuff.
