Rockstead

The Rockstead Knives are, in our opinion, some of the best knives available on the market. With Rockstead's meticulous craftsmanship and unique designs, this semi-custom folder is worth the premium price tag. The SHIN is the larger version of the Rockstead KOU model. It features a 3.5" YXR7 DLC polished blade and aluminum handles with stingray inlays. The opening action is smooth with a solid liner lock to securely keep the blade locked in place. The incredible mirror finish is achieved by heat treating the blade and gradually hand grinding through 400, 600, 800, 1,200 and 2,000 grits wet-dry sandpaper. This is very intense and time-consuming because if any scratches were to occur during this process, the blade must be sent back to the previous step for refinishing. Once this is complete, the blade will be buffed for the final finish. The folks at Rockstead have mastered this process to give the knife a beautiful finish and sharp edge like no other. Each knife is individually numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity.

With proper maintenance, Rocksteads are known to keep a sharp edge for 2-3 years. Rockstead Knives come with free sharpening and regrinding. You would be responsible for shipping charges to and from Japan.

Wow!!
This brand is insanely addictive.I recently bought a CHI-ZDP and loved it. Why buy another?? No good reason except for temptation. And then this SHIN-DLC arrived. Oh, my.Bigger. Solid. Sharper than anything I've ever bought. Slightly larger than the ZDP, with a wonderfully slicey curved blade. Expensive?Yes. Worth it?Definitely!Oddly, despite its price and polish, this is a blade that I want to use, not pamper. I keep wanting to see if it lives up to its hype and, so far, it has. Every time.I'm hooked. My one and only complaint about these knives is the thumb stud. Somehow, it's just not quite in the right spot for me. I haven't figured out what spot would be better, though.

master craftsmanship meets peak technology
You cannot get a higher quality knife. Full stop.opens smoother than, well, words fail. Yet the detent is positive and secure.find what you like, if you can afford it, buy it.I'm sure you can get a more expensive knife, but you wont exceed the quality offered.Too bad I'm a lefty, but at this point I will carry a much less precious knife for the dirty stuff.

Cons: Weight, Pocket Clip
Masterpiece of functional art/craftsmanship.
Amazing design and execution. Amazing finish on the scale and blade. Amazingly sharp. Perfect lockup with no stick. Smooth, buttery pivot. Zero blade play. Comes with a nice deer skin chamois for wiping off smudges. Knife is a bit heavy due to blade thickness but not heavier than same size knives with same blade gauge. Knife is not a flipper or assisted so it's not as easy as some to deploy. It's easy to open one handed for young dextrous people, using the thumb stud.Would kind of expect a deep pocket milled clip rather than cut/pressed stamped but that's ok sometimes clips catch and get bent.
