Just what I was looking for

My husband carried a knife just like this in his pocket for years until he lost it. After searching several other places for a replacement, I finally found it here. He was very excited about replacing it because it does not overload his pocket.

This Knife is Tradition

I love this knife. When I was 10 years old my father bought me this knife and it was a sign I was growing up, getting resposibilities and was trusted. I have carried this knife for the last forty years and I use it on a daily basis at work and play. After all this time I am only of my 3rd knife. I hope CTC continues to carry this knife forever.

Quality could be better

The knife was bought to replace an Old Timer that I had lost over the last winter. The quality of the knife is good overall, but the middle rivet is not flush with the surface as the to outer rivets are.

I use the knife as a pocket knife simply to cut things like packages, an apple etc. Nothing extraordinary. Any pocket knife is great if it fits comfortably in your hand , steel blade holds a sharp edge, folds in and out with no problems, and looks good. The problem......The blade hangs up on the knife when closing at the tip and takes extra time to get it closed. I note that the " ease of closing " does not appear on the Pros or Cons.

Springs WAY too tight, shreds your thumbnail

First thing I noticed is the knife is nearly impossible to open, the springs are way to tight, the nail pull shreds your thumbnail. I contacted Old Timer customer service, and they admit its tight, and said I needed to use it more to break it in...if I cant open it, Im not sure how I can use it more to break it in. It is unacceptable, and unusable. I am purchasing another knife, one that opens easily and has a good snap to it when the blade closes. I owned an old timer nearly 50 years ago, these are now made in china and the quality is no longer there.
