Love the locking mechanism, Strong and light weight

Finally a pocket size, single blade, everyday weight with a LOCKING BLADE. I don't even feel it in my pocket. Another positive; it comes from Schrade. A timeless knife. Love it. I retired my Case Texas Toothpick and put it away in my sock drawer.

Classic Appeal

I use this knife for any general purpose activity. It is almost a little small for my hand but sits snugly in a trouser pocket if you don't wish to wear it on a belt. It has all of the Old Timer attributes that an enthusiast requires in a quality knife and the price is peanuts. I particularly wanted this one because of the lock mechanism. I have many knives but not one of this style. I like it. I am using it today as a letter opener.

Timeless Classic

I bought an original made in the USA one back in 1985. I still have it and I still love it. It has too much sentimental value to me now and I don’t risk carrying it, so I bought this made in China version back in 2018. It’s just like the USA version except different steel in the blade. But it’s still a pretty good performing blade. The rest of the build quality is on par with the USA version. In fact, even after 6 years there is no blade wobble. The design of the knife is one of my all time favorites. It is just about perfect. I can’t think of anything that could be improved. I very highly recommend!

50+ years and still great

I have had one of these for over 50 years. It is in great shape. These days, I use it primarily as a letter opener, but have used it to strip wires and some general shop and camping use. I like the unique lock mechanism. It will probably go to a grandchild someday. The blade is a bit more tapered towards the tip than the current version, and I don't think it is stainless steel, but the model number is the same (1940T).

Hard to sharpen because of blade type & will not hold an edge.
