The best handle ergonomics, strong and comfortable. Strong ball bearing locking mechanism that is crisp and very satisfying to use. It’s nice that it can be disassembled if needed, since they don’t use rivets anymore. This is a strong hard working folding knife.

My first Spyderco won't be my last!
Love the ergonomics of the knife. I'm a curious mind for proprietary steels. This knife definitely lived up to the hype. Knife center had it to me in record time so you can't beat that either.
Great replacement for my Gen 1 endura that I carried daily for 15 years until the lock broke. Wanted something a little different. Color is not what I would normally go for but I kind of like it. Fit and finish on my example is exceptional. I'll let you know in 15 years if it held up as well the old one.

i work in shipping so i open a lot of boxes and cut shrink wrap. typical stuff like that. i own about 75 knifes. mostly on the budget side of things. so spending over $80 is kind of a big deal. i've always thought spydecos were ugly, so i stayed away from them. i only have a tenacious. i do like it very much. l'm just not a fan of the 8cr steel. this manix is very similar in size and shape. both are the light weight versions. the biggest differences are the lock styles and the manix has a finger choil which i like a lot. i can't wait to see how the steel holds up. very happy with my purchase.
The first knife I received didn't want to open or close, even after loosening the pivot screw. I tried opening and closing it for about a week hoping it would work itself loose but it did not. I spoke to Gary in customer service. He emailed me a label and offered to send me a new knife. He told me he'd have someone open it and make sure the new knife didn't have any sticking problems. After tracking showed they had received the defective knife I called to find out the status of the replacement. I spoke to Melinda. She was very helpful. She price matched Amazon for me but when I asked about upgrading the shipping and she said she'd have to charge me to upgrade. I paid, but I'm not happy about having to. It may not have been her call but I think the "extra mile" would have been to expedite it. After all, I could have just gone with Amazon and had free 2-day shipping. Overall I am happy with the customer service. The new knife opens quickly and the drop/fall shut action is perfect. I've had this knife for about 3 hrs so I can't say much about the steel. The fit and finish are excellent. The lightweight version of the Manix 2 is much lighter than the G10 version but it doesn't feel week or cheap to me. I like the lightweight for EDC tasks. I mostly use my knives for opening Amazon boxes, cutting all manner of straps, strings, and things, breaking down cardboard, and opening plastic clamshell packaging. The cobalt blue handles scales are darker in hand than on the web and I like them. I wear 2xl sized gloves and this knife fits perfectly in my hands. This is a great "fidgeter". This was my 4th knife purchase from the Knife center and I will continue to be a customer. I can recommend this knife.
Recently received my cobalt manix 2 and at first look and use it appears to have all spydercos best quality and assembly attention. Fit and finish is excellent in all areas. Blade finish and sharpness are all that was hoped for. The weight is very noticeably less than my g10 Manix 2 and therefore is much easier to carry as an EDC. All moving parts do what they are supposed to and work smoothly. Long term use will tell about long term usefulness. Knife center staff were friendly and helpful as usual.
Fits me like a glove. It has easier one-handed operation and it's so thin and light - makes it a great carry option. The overall size makes for a better EDC than my Para 2 (which is also a great knife). Also really wanted to try the CPM-SPY27 blade steel, which I like so far.
How Use: EDC general use. Package opening, shop work, etc. Greatness: Lightweight with adequate strength makes it a winner for EDC weight reduction, for hiking, etc. I am a knife user/collector of over 50yrs experience. The Manix design won me over from the start. I convex all my blade edges and the flat grinds really help with that along with cut-through performance. The gentle curve uses physics to improve cutting performance. It's just like the karate punch - the max force applied to the smallest area = great penetration. Plus the edge is longer than the blade length adding slicing performance. I love curvy blades and it doesn't have to be an extreme curve to add benefits. A gentle curve can do everything a straight edge can do, at least in my uses, and perform better to boot. It has a nice EDC tip, not a fieldcraft tip which needs to be more robust. But robust means also blunter, that is a tradeoff. The EDC tip is better with the sharper tip - in my use...- for example opening shoplifting resistant plastic packaging. Sharper tip means less force needed to puncture the plastic when you get home. That is a huge safety concern. Ideally you want to use a minimum of force when using a knife. More force means a greater chance for loss of control and greater damage potential. The two position grip, combined with that tip, gives this knife a wider range of uses because of the ability to choke up and control the tip. For power, say whittling a stick, the rear grip works well with the blade working nearer the pivot. I have XL wide hands with short fingers - typical meat hook hand - and a hand hard to fit. The Manix can fit a wide range of hands and feels great in mine. I have the fancy model with the jimping plates, the work-a-day model with a back lock and this lightweight model which to me is more Spyderco like. Love the lock on the lightweight for it's strength, the lock grips could use a little more angle on them, if nitpicking. I also find it a beautiful design for looks and love the teal grips. My first Spydie was a Delica that I used in my martial arts training and Spyderco has been my goto brand ever since. If someone asks me for a knife recommendation the Manix is my Spyderco goto.
Out of the box, this knife was not very good. Reverse flicking was next to impossible and the lock stuck bad, even made noise when operating. Had to use two hands to close the blade. The locking mechanism is uncomfortable to use and can't even be replaced with an aftermarket ball because the handle is pinned. Took a lot of work to get the opening and closing action at an acceptable level. I don't believe I should even have to tune a $150+ knife myself, should have been done at the factory. I like the color of the scales, but they look cheap and feel even cheaper. They would work great on a $40knife. I think I would have been happier with a non-lightweight version. The wire clip is great. If you're trying to decide between the Manix and PM2, I wouldn't even consider this knife to be in the same league.
