great well balanced kukri style knife

This is one he** of a blade, from end to end the fit and finish is on point. The sheath is right on point too with a perfect fit, it snaps in so well you really dont need the strap. The only thing to complain about on this knife for me is the saw back. I have a love hate relationship with it. It looks awesome on it but I find I rarely have a use for it. Would it stop me from buying it again?....nope Id drop money on this in a heart beat.

light weight chopper

This one got me. I respect the kukri design for chopping but don't find it really worth all the weight. Now this Tops Tundra Trekker is only 16.6 oz. That make it a real nice hiking weight if it can chop well. (losing all that weight could decrease it's ability) Well I took it out to weed a really neglected area. I started using a Terävä Skrama 240 which is a really good all purpose large knife. It is quite a good chopper. I started to run into some small trees and the Skrama was having a hard time with them, so I decided to try the Trekker. It preformed great! small trees were going down in a few swings. 3 inch diameter were taking 4-6 swings. It cuts like a hatch! Very glad to own it.

Great knife

Not fond of the finishes tops uses on most of their knives, powder coating and "TRACTION" coating. But I get it, without these coatings the owner needs to put forth a little effort to prevent rust. Other than that, this is a fantastic tool. Front heavy makes it great for chopping. Sawback has WORKING saw teeth (enlarge the photo and take a good look). Ideal blade thickness for its size. Nice balance between hardness and ductility. Not too heavy for most backpackers. Good kydex Sheath, and I'm not even a fan of kydex. Well thought out tool. Again, would be 5 stars for me with a simple black coating. Overall very pleased. It's a tops so I'm looking forward to putting it thru some real hard use.
