First a confession - I love Victorinox pocket knives. In particular the locking blade series. So it didn't take much convincing to make me decide that I needed this one in my life. First impression is the size. This think is big, chunky, and heavy. Those are not negatives at all if you want the security of stronger knife. I do think it would be a stretch to call this a "pocket" knife though because you would need seriously big pockets. It makes my Victorinox Hunter look like a toy in comparison so you can imagine what it looks like next to the standard Victorinox models like the Spartan. The contoured handle sits well in my palm and feels substantial. The walnut handle must be CNC'ed and it feels a little rough where the CNC bit has gone against the grain. I may touch this up with very fine sandpaper. The locking mechanism on this knife is different to the other Victorinox knives in that you push the "shield" or "crest" on the handle as a button to unlock the blade. The action on the button is not very smooth and feels slightly loose so it will be interesting to see how it will last. It certainly doesn't have that precise Swiss feel to it. This is a collaberation with Wenger so the blade shape is slightly different to the usual Victorinox blade. In summary I'm happy I took the leap. It's a really pretty knife that should serve me well for many years.
