Great Knife

This is a knife I use everyday in a heavy manufacturing firm. It is a very solid knife. Can not fault the construction of ZT knives. Handles are very grippy and I have no fears of it slipping. Never can say bad things about ZT knives they are just so good

Needs to be broken In

A love-hate relationship. I almost returned the knife when I initially received it. Right out of the box, the ZT909 flipper was super hard to flip open, to the point of hurting my index finger (used to operate the flipper). It didn't help that the flipper had some pretty aggressive jimping ... and the detent was super strong. There's no thumb stud, so the flipper is the ONLY way to open it. After a few days, I contemplated either returning it (but got such a great Black Friday deal for $99) or sending it to be serviced by ZT (heard their repair shop is first rate). After taking it apart, adding some grease to the detent ball, and flipping it numerous times over several weeks (initially with gloves so I don't rip my fingers up) ... The ZT909 has started to grow on me and getting quite fond of the solid opening and the thump sound when you flip and open it. I don't really care for the black scales it comes with ... I've seen some after market scales that really bring out the character of the ZT909. It's a keeper now! Wish it had a frame lock like the 550 / 560 / 562 series.

Outstanding knife!

I've owned my ZT 0909 for a few months now and, despite it's larger/heavier size, it has become my favorite EDC folder. I carry it at work, around the house, on camping trips, etc and and use it for all kinds of cutting tasks. The robust S35VN blade has handled everything I've thrown at it and retains its edge very well. The stronger detent requires a bit more deliberate push on the index/flipper tab, but it comes out with authority and locks in solid. I appreciate the stronger detent knowing that this thing is not going to deploy unless I intend it to (I've had a knife with a weaker detent come partially open when retrieving it from my pocket and I almost cut myself with it...not good). Some may be a little put off by the weight and relative bulk, but I tell you it carries very well despite that. The liner lock is absolutely solid. I've done some hard cutting and there has been absolutely no indication of a failure. Bottom line: A great design by Les George and a quality build by ZT. For the price point, you get a lot of knife and I'm confident it will provide many years of great service. Get one! You won't regret it.

My New EDC

A very substantial folder that is extremely well made and razor sharp out of the box. The ease of deployment is excellent and feels great in my big hands. This is an American made knife and I absolutely love everything about it....especially the great price from Knife Center. Looking for another. BOOM!

A Great Hard Use Slicer!

What a terrific knife! My ZT 0909 arrived super sharp and has the impressive overall fit and finish that you'd expect from Zero Tolerance. It has a great blade size and shape for general indoor/outdoor utility, has a comfortable, durable handle and is a surprisingly great slicer. The knife has some heft to it but, for a harder use knife, is appreciated. As a lefty, I really appreciate its ball bearing pivot - the blade falls shut with just a slight shake. Thanks ZT, Les George and KnifeCenter!

A REALLY GOOD KNIFE

NEVER OWNED A HI END PRODUCTION KNIFE. FIGURED WITH 66 YEARS UNDER MY BELT, IT WAS TIME. WHEN I FIRST OPENNED THE BOX, THE KNIFE FELT HEAVY. AFTER I OPENNED THE KNIFE THE WEIGHT WENT AWAY. THE BALANCE IS GREAT. THE HANDLE IS A PERFECT SIZE FOR MY SOMEWHAT LARGE HANDS. DUE TO ARTHRITIS IN MY HANDS OPENNING WAS A PROBLEM FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS. THIS IS IN NO WAY THE KNIFES FAULT. ONCE THINGS WORE IN THIS IS NO LONGER A PROBLEM. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS KNIFE TO ANYONE. I AM SO HAPPY I BOUGHT IT. IF YOU HAVE BEEN HESITATING ABOUT BUYING A GOOD KNIFE. THIS IS IT. LIFE IS SHORT, YOU'RE DEAD A LONG TIME.

An awesome knife

A heavy duty folding knife for outdoors when you don't want to carry a fixed blade. Mine arrived perfect. The blade shape and finish is excellent. Scales offer great grip and handle shape is very comfortable for large hands. Fit and finish is perfect. Very solid with easy blade deployment and great materials. Yes, it is heavy, but this knife was not intended to be carried in dress slacks. My favorite large folder and I'm glad to see it back in stock. Tempted to buy a second one, especially at KnifeCenter prices and service.

Robust is an understatement

I have several ZT’s this is my favorite. If you want one of these would advise getting it while you still can it’s reported to be discontinued. The only fault I had with mine was the liner lock tension was so great the pressure against the blade when in the closed position made it pretty difficult to flip open. Painful actually. So being no stranger to ‘void your warranty’ (I own around 35 high end folders and have taken all but maybe 5 apart) within 20 minuets I had the perfect balance of pressure & secure lock up. It’s a fine example of well thought out design & excellent execution.

Great Knife

Ordered this 10/19 /17 RECEIVED 10/21/17. This is the 4th purchase from KC, never disappointed !! This knife is a " hand Tank " that right I made that up. I always wanted a ZT KNIFE. I was considering a 350 tiger stripe, but went with this model . I f on the fence , just order this one. Does not feel as heavy as the specs would indicate feels very well balanced. Very, very satisfied...... again !!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing tank of a knife

ZT has done it again. This knife is bulldozer of a folder. Very solid very sturdy knife. Not as heavy as they say at least as far as carrying it around. Good clip. S35vn steel is a winner every time. Flipper action is perfect. Metal ball hearings for the win jot the plastic blue bearings that my 0562cf has. Although i do love that knife to its to preety to use, this knife, the 909, is a work horse. Beat it to death and it will not let you down. Simple looks but good looks, tough hard use knife. I use this for hard use edc tasks. Love it. Good price to.

Outstanding Heavy Duty EDC Blade

I was looking at the ZT 0909 for quite a while and jumped at the chance to pick one up when Knife Center had them on special. I'm really glad I bought it and have been carrying it daily for a few weeks now. It's a very stout folder with solid lockup, almost feels like a fixed blade when deployed. Outstanding ergonomics, arrived very sharp from the factory. I am VERY picky when it comes to folders and own several from Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson and more, and the ZT 0909 has become my preferred blade for EDC!

ZT 0909 knife folding knife perfection

This knife is absolutely heavy duty in every sense of the word. A lot of people talk about the weight....but that's one of its strengths. It is a knife , that if properly taking care of, will last a very long time. Some carbon shred aftermarket scales have made it look as good as its performance. Going to get a spare before their gone so I'll have this knife with me forever. As usual knife center made the transaction easy and expeditious.

Beefy blade

Knife is very well built and of high quality like you’d expect from ZT. The only con I have is weight but I knew it was heavy and it carries very well in the pocket only really feel the weight if I’m in gym shorts working out etc... Other than that it’s a tad stiff to open when brand new(which I personally like)but loosens quickly and is very very smooth, my first expierience with a bearing system the KVT system is very smooth, blade is beefy, beautiful and sharp! And for the deal I got on this knife it was a steal!

got it on sale, amazing knife, at the price of 150 or less amazing

i love zt but stayed away from this one due to its size, but when i sale i said the the heck, it actually feel lighter i would say like my hinderer xm18, the build quality is unreal, it flips out and locks so hard it really does feel like a single blade,,, i mean that, it that overbuilt while still smooth, i would say it has a hard detent so if you have soft hands it may not be good for you. but for "man hands/contruction workers, or maybe survivol tool this thing really can't be beat, i have many zt some costing three times as much, yes I like them better, but if it were and end of the world situation and i had to grab one, i believe this big a$$ blade just might be the one i take with me... so if you can get it for 150 or less hop all over it if you love big overbuilt flipper knives you cant do better even spending more,,, unless you just up to a Hinderer or Les George Midtech and even then i don't think there any better,,, but a little more refined for sure. Hope this helps someone.

Beast of a knife!

This knife is built sturdy. Thick liners, thick backbone, and a strong liner lock. The S35VN blade is big-bellied and cuts like a dream. The knife is built big, but that is not a bad thing because it is not overly heavy. It leaves nothing to be desired.

It could not be any better!

This is an all purpose carry knife when I know I'm going to need a really stout knife. It is my new sailing knife. It will cut through the toughest high tech. halyard or guy line with ease. Which is important when in a nasty spinnaker broach situation. The knife had a quick breaking as far as opening goes. I lubed it with Superlube a PTFE based grease, it took about 40 to 50 flips before it became very fluid. With that said there in zero side movement. Very sharp out of the box. Was able to dry shave with it. Comfortable in the hand and pocket. The thing that I find is that it is hard to believe is that this is a folding knife when it is open. It feels, acts and looks like a sheath knife. Very impressed with the build quality and the design. As far as the blade steel, I think that the steel used is the best that I have ever used, because of the balance of edge retention, ease of sharpening, and rust resistance.

GREAT KNIFE !

I have really gotten into knife collecting since the age of 17 when I graduated boot camp and bought my first Buck 110. Now I am 61 and still building my collection and when I got this knife I was VERY impressed by how this knife fills in as my EDC and goes with me to many parts of the world in my travels. ZT really hit it out of the ball park with this one and hope they can keep this one on the production line for a long time.

BEST MANUAL FLIPPER I OWN !

I own quite a few knives, and a more than a few of them are manual flippers, and this one is the best I have seen. The detent is perfect! You're not shaking this one out. Just enough tension to flip it out from any position. Light switching it works best, but you can push button it if you try. My ZT 801 is almost as good, but can be a little picky about finger placement since it's a frame lock. The liner lock on the 909 might not be as strong as the frame lock on the 801, but you have to get it open to use it, and the 909 fires open every time. No blade play in an direction, shaving sharp out of the box, and while the handles don't have the grip that my Emerson's do,(what does ?)they still give a great grip and aren't as hard on the pocket. Feel in the hand is perfect for me. S35VN is my favorite steel because it's easy to sharpen and holds an edge for a while. This is one stout knife! While some may feel it's a bit heavy for EDC, it makes you feel like it will handle anything you can throw at it. The more I play with this knife, the more it's becoming my favorite knife. I can't find anything I don't like about it! I own knives a lot more expensive than this one but really can't think of one that I would have more confidence in. Thanks ZT for the great build and thanks to Knife Center for their as usual great service. Get one. You won't regret it.

Not as heavy as I was expecting. The knife definitely has some have to it, but it is extremely manageable and feels great my hand. I like it so much I'm thinking about purchasing one or two more for their gone. Action is smooth, Lock Up is tight. I have zero complaints about the quality or function of this knife. Good All Around knife

Had this a month. First before I state some negatives I do like this knife a lot and never will want to get rid of it. It arrived not sharp. Usually I stay away from a knife that isn't sharp. To me if the manufacturer can not get it sharp it is too hard. This is not the case. It didn't take long at all to shaving sharp. I would not pry with tip as the tip gets a little thin. But who would do that. That makes it good but not excellent survival knife but you always have it with you and it is a folder not a belt knife. That means it has to have some weight. It does. Good comermize for all around carry. For a folder it is hard to beat. It is solid and tight and will last a long time. For defense is my biggest beef. You have to get at it fast. The clip is too high which means it hard and super slow to find and get it out of your pocket. Flipper is then too far forward to use. Have to readjust to use after out. Tried a string hanging out of my pocket no good. Then I put it in the bottom my pocket facing up the right way for fliper. 10 times faster and no screw ups. Lower the clip a ZT. I sat in front of the tv and opened and closed it many nites. Super fast now and I then oiled it. It is my every day carry knife because it does everything well except accessing it quick. Excellent knife.

Its a sturdy beast

Super strong blade but a reasonable slicer. Scales and lockup were good and the blade was nicely centered. Flips pretty easily and very smooth. Cuts cardboard well and soft wood was easy for this knife. Quick word about knifecenter, the first one shipped to me had a small blade defect that escaped ZT QC. Knife Center RMA'd it with no trouble and I had the replacement within a few days. Outstanding customer service.

Heavy, well built, great for the price ...

It's being discontinued and lowered price made it worthwhile for me to buy it. A well-made US made knife with S35VN steel at this price point is an excellent buy. I have 2 issues with this knife. Mine had insanely early lockup. I took it apart and adjusted the blade tang to correct the problem, rather than sending it back. Second, Skeletonized liners would have made this knife awesome and lighter without sacrificing any of the overall strength of the design. As is, it is a boat anchor at more than 7 oz. Also, not a big fan of goofy looking lug nut pivot. Nevertheless, I like it enough to use it as my primary hard use EDC knife. While the ball bearing washers make for smooth opening and closing, I would have much preferred bronze washer set up like ZT0550. G10 scales have a right balance of grippy texture without tearing up your pants pocket.
