As CJRB's recent button-lock models have become increasingly popular, they noticed a lack of harder-use models on the market that feature a button-lock. Enter the Riff, a rugged reliable tool with an oversized button lock and a blade designed to tackle the jobs that a regular EDC knife may struggle with.

CJRB Riff FAQ

The CJRB Riff is a rugged folder from CJRB Cutlery designed to tackle tougher tasks than standard everyday carry knives. Featuring an oversized button lock mechanism and a highly neutral handle design, this series blends durability with practical ergonomics.

What steel is used on the CJRB Riff?
The CJRB Riff series uses AR-RPM9 proprietary steel for its 3.47-inch blade. This powder metallurgy stainless steel is engineered to provide a reliable balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening for daily utility use.
What opening options does the CJRB Riff offer?
The CJRB Riff deploys primarily via a flipper tab on smooth ball bearings, but it can also be opened using the blade fuller. This large fuller allows for easy thumb flicking or reverse flicking, keeping the cutting path completely free of thumb studs or other obstructions.
Is the pocket clip on the CJRB Riff reversible?
Yes, the deep-carry pocket clip on the CJRB Riff is fully reversible for left- or right-hand carry. While the clip itself is not recessed into the scale, it features flush-mounted screw heads to prevent them from catching on your pocket during carry.
What handle materials and finishes are available in the Riff series?
The CJRB Riff series is available with either green canvas Micarta or black G10 handle scales. Depending on the model, these handles can be paired with either a clean stonewashed blade or a tactical black PVD-coated blade.
Is the CJRB Riff comfortable for larger hands?
Yes, the CJRB Riff features a neutral handle design that comfortably accommodates larger hand sizes. The lack of restrictive finger grooves allows your hand to naturally slide back off the handle if needed, providing a versatile grip for different users.
Is the button lock on the CJRB Riff easy for left-handed users to operate?
Yes, the button lock on the CJRB Riff remains highly functional and easy to operate in the left hand, despite being physically biased for right-hand use. When combined with the reversible deep-carry pocket clip, the knife serves as an excellent option for left-handed users.
