What does PSD stand for?
PSD stands for “Particle Separation Device,” custom maker Jim Hammond's clever definition of what a cutting tool actually does. Designed for the lineup of CRKT folding knives, the series blends distinctive visual lines with dependable everyday cutting capability.
How do the PSD and PSD II differ?
The two versions differ primarily in blade length, blade profile, and blade steel. The standard PSD features a 3.63-inch harpoon blade made from 4116 steel with carbon fiber and G10 handles, whereas the compact PSD II offers a 3-inch drop point blade in AUS-10 steel with coyote tan G10 scales.
Does the flipper tab get in the way during use?
No, the pronounced flipper tab does not interfere with your grip once the blade is deployed. When choking up with your index finger in the forward choil, the tab rests neatly between your first two fingers. In addition, the blade grind does not sharpen all the way into the choil, leaving a safe contact zone that keeps the edge away from your finger.
What kind of lock and deployment does the knife use?
The PSD series uses a spring-assisted flipper opening mechanism paired with a sturdy stainless steel liner lock. Pressing the flipper tab fires the blade open quickly for one-handed readiness, while the liner lock provides secure lockup during cutting tasks.
What pocket clip carry options are available?
The pocket clip is configured for right-hand carry with both tip-up and tip-down mounting positions. Its deep-carry profile allows the folder to sit low and unobtrusive inside your pocket.
