CR7920: Jim Hammond 7920 PSD Particle Separation Device Folding Knife
Columbia River (CRKT)
Particle. Separation. Device. Break it down to brass tacks: the PSD is made to slice. This everyday carry folding knife's blade is designed with a full recurve and a highly efficient double grind. And, with Assisted Opening, it shows up to work in the blink of an eye.
When designer Jim Hammond of Birmingham, Alabama put pen to paper, he did so with the intention of creating a knife that was equal parts powerful, compact, and highly aesthetic. The PSD hits the mark. The impossible-to-miss re-curve of the blade performs when making deep cuts and slicing, while the double grind makes pushing more efficient. The surprisingly compact G10 and carbon fiber handle accommodates a solid four-finger grip and is finished with an electric blue pivot and pocket clip.
Built around Assisted Opening, it flips open at incredibly high speed when you apply minimal pressure on the low-profile flipper. The IKBS ball bearing pivot system makes for a smooth rotation and a liner lock keeps it solidly in place.
The PSD is crafted for cutting.
How Assisted Opening Works
It's held securely closed in your pocket, but initiate the deployment, and part-way through the rotation the blade swings open at an impressive speed for simple, powerful, one-handed opening.
Features
Assisted Opening Flipper deploys the blade fast
IKBS ball bearing pivot deploys the blade smoothly
High carbon stainless steel blade takes an edge well
G10 handle with carbon fiber layer is strong and lightweight
This is an edc knife for me so I use it for everything that comes up. Nice harpoon style blade and good size. The pocket clip is just like any other clip of the same type. The carbon fiber style hand grip is nice. The one thing that needs improvement in my opinion is the lock. Maybe consider a different type of lock. The liner lock doesn’t stick up enough to unlock it easily. I needs a bit more to get ahold of or like I mentioned, a different type of lock. Overall a nice knife.

Good sized recurve blade. I like the choil forward of the handle.Grip is nice but not as much traction as a good G10 design.Blade has a nice ramp with jimping. Forward of this is what I call another ramp without jimping and helps close the blade.Action is very good. Flipper is a little long.Overall quality is 5 stars. Worth the money.Knife is about the size of spyderco paramilitary 2. It's a little heavy if that's important to you.

I'd rate this higher than a 5 if I could. I love this knife so much I may buy duplicates to keep in pristine condition. The size of this knife is quite big, but it fits so perfectly in the hand.Smooth action, smooth handle scales which look quite dazzling, all pieced together with one of CRKT's most unique blade shapes.I love every single aspect of this knife. The spine of the blade offers a pressure point for your finger for fine cutting. This is my favorite knife from CRKT in a very long time. The only unusual aspect of this knife (to me) is how short the clip is. It's a deep carry clip, but it's surprisingly short for such a large knife. This has made no noticeable difference in carrying, but I thought I would mention it.If you want a great conversation piece as well as a piece of CRKT quality in your pocket, I highly recommend this knife!
