ArtisanCutlery’s Orthodox folding knife, originally released in 2019, quickly gained a cult following for its sleek, straight-razor-inspired design and everyday carry functionality. Now in 2025, the updated Orthodox V2 delivers the improvements fans have been asking for. The most significant upgrade is the transition to a true hollow grind with thinner blade stock, offering enhanced sharpness and cutting performance. The blade is made from ArtisanCutlery's AR-RPM9 steel, making it easy to sharpen, and it has excellent corrosion resistance. The flipper has been redesigned for smoother, more reliable action while maintaining a discreet profile by utilizing ceramic ball bearings in the pivot. Additional refinements include an expanded sharpening choil for improved control and a new gunstock-shaped handle that enhances grip and handling without straying from the knife’s iconic look. Any fan of the original will not regret owning this excellent redesign of an iconic pocket knife.

It's OK
It delivers as an inexpensive EDC knife with straight razor aesthetics, but the build and action are a bit lacking. In particular the handle only has one barrel spacer and even though there's full length steel liners that's just not enough to keep it feeling really solid in hand - it's definitely flexy. And the flipper action is not great either. I'm keeping it because the idea of an EDC razor amuses me, but unless you also fancy that, it should probably be a pass....
