Great gift
Bought as a gift for someone who isn't a modern knife guy. This was a goodlooking traditional pocket knife that he liked very much

BEAR & SON - "MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK"
I was very much impressed with Bear & Son's Traditional Pattern Barlow. Fit & Finish for the price is unrivaled. Both blades on my Barlow were very tight, & sharpness of both (blades) was acceptable. The high carbon stainless steel material that Bear uses in their blades makes any additional sharpening you wish to do, a simple chore when you put a drop of honing oil on your Arkansas oilstone , & spend a few minutes to bring those blades to razor-sharpness. Bear's Barlow is a good whittling knife. I'm thinking that a Bear & Son Baby Barlow in Rosewood would be the cat's meow!

What happened to American craftsmanship?
This is a beautiful knife on the outside, but the pen blade is very loose and the blades are exceptionally dull, which doesn't matter to those who are in the habit of sharpening new knives, but it could not be used as it. My new Rough Rider Barlow, at 1/3 the price of the Bear & Son, is a far better knife.
