BTKBMK02J: BMK02J Bestechman Ronan Folding Knife, Black Stonewashed/Red G10

Bestechman Knives

The Bestechman Ronan is an extremely solid folding knife. The thick liners and G10 provide an excellent, snug grip. The spear point blade is made of black stonewashed 14C28N stainless steel for durability, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. This affordable folder features Bestechman's take on the crossbar lock and has rock-solid lockup. When it's time to open or close the knife, ceramic bearings allow the blade to quickly snap open with either the dual-thumbstuds or by pulling the crossbar lock down, allowing the blade to easily swing open or closed. Yet another all-around fantastic blade from the brilliant minds at Bestechman.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Handle Material, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality
Cons: None
I really like it
After loving the jade one I had to get more, and unlike the last one I got, the channel lock didn't come stiff at all. I'm mildly concerned as the other did break in eventually, but so far it's been great, Overall a very cool and comfortable design.

Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Weight
Pretty happy for the price
Some good, some bad, overall I'm quite happy for the price point. Pros: Useful blade shape for my usage. Crossbar lock is very good - solid lockup, no blade play, and appropriate amount of spring tension. I've seen others review this knife and had issues with strong springs, but mine was spot on. Notably the only crossbar lock I had an issue with too much tension was the Giant Mouse Ace Nazca, which I think was also made by Bestech, but this one was much more reasonable out of the box. Very sharp factory edge on my example. I was a little concerned that the red G10 would be too much on the orange side, but it's definitely a red. A slightly darker hue would be my preference, but if I had seen it in person before buying it wouldn't be a deterrent. Doesn't look orange at all (which was my fear).Cons: Heavy. Maybe I've just been carrying rather lightweight knives lately but man did this feel hefty out of the box. But didn't notice it more than any other in sweatpants, so there's that. Would have liked it lighter, but it will still be in my pocket. The thickness of the handle (which I'm sure contributes to the weight) makes for a very comfortable grip, however. I was afraid the pocket clip end would be too pointy but I don't feel it. Another con is the stonewash. It's like, barely a stonewash. I actually thought it was simply a coated bladed when I first got it, but with better light and looking at the high points it was certainly stonewashed. But not a heavy stonewash by any means. I would have preferred it a little more worn and gray than black and looking similar to my other coated blades, but it's OK overall.I'm liking this knife, and it feels like it can get some work done. Just light use so far, but I have a move coming up and this will probably be in my pocket during that, so I'm looking forward to see how it goes. Bottom line: Very good for the price. I'm not sure I know another with a crossbar lock at this price point I would recommend over it.

Good work knife
Love this knife, bought two of them, red and natural (jade) g10. I was using my red one as a work knife and unfortunately walking by a pallet that was wrapped in shrink wrap I got too close and caught the bill of the pocket clip and bent it all out of shape. When I was trying to bend the pocket clip back to normal one of the sides of the clip broke (where the pocket clip screw cut out is that attaches to the scale). Now I have to find another pocket clip. Other than having to bend the bill of the pocket clip on my natural (jade) g10 one down so it doesn’t snag on something like my red one did, I don’t have any other complaints. Sharp even blade grind out of box, great blade action, easy access and function on the cross bar lock opening and closing. Great work knife, might be a little heavy for ever day carry if you are wearing sport shorts.
