When looking for an EDC knife, one of the most important considerations is accessibility to bring the knife to bear quickly. The Hectare-Alt uses a combination of its crossbar lock mechanism with ceramic ball bearings in the pivot to make this knife quick to deploy and always ready in hand. The smooth action allows the blade to be flicked open with one hand via the blade cutout, or the ambidextrous crossbar lock. This knife can easily double as a fidget toy with how much fun it is to use. The blade is made from AR-SFII, a proprietary steel that takes the toughness of AR-RPM9 and adds extra edge retention for one tough steel. The handles are comfortable to hold and fit well in the hand thanks to its gentle curve and bevel designed to accommodate the index finger. This model features a sand-polished blade and OD green Micarta handles. The Hectare comes with a reversible deep carry stainless steel pocket clip that allows it to be discreetly carried with you wherever you may go.

Hard to fault it for much
If you've been looking at a knife like, say, the Kershaw Bel Air but it seems a little pricey, the Hectare Alt is a great alternative. Similar size and blade shape, crossbar lock, and the steel seems at least as good as 154CM. The micarta has a brown tinge to it, but it feels great. Lightweight, east to carry, had no trouble moving the pocket clip to the left side. The crossbar springs were a bit heavy in my opinion, but that's something that's easily remedied if it bothers you. I've honestly got nothing bad to say about this knife. It's a wonderful EDC piece. Looks great, works great.
