CS20MTR: Mini Tuff Lite - Red

Cold Steel

Tough enough to do the job and light enough to be handy, Cold Steel's Tuff Lite folders are there when you need them. Perfectly sized to slip into any pocket, clip to your waistband or wear around your neck on a lanyard. With the wide, hollow, ground blades they are mercilessly sharp and can shear through the toughest materials with unexpected ease. And due to their slanted points, they offer deep penetration and precision cutting potential without appearing aggressive enough to draw unwanted attention. Both the standard sized version and the mini version are bred for work and offer a surprisingly good grip due to their superbly engineered Griv-Ex handles that offer a tremendous strength to weight ratio and feature our state of the art Tri-Ad lock, which gives them astonishing muscle for their size.

way better than I expected
I just bought a pair of these on knifecenter for my parents. I heard that tri-ad locks are hard to close but it's not true in this case, even my parents in their 60s can use these knives. One handed opening is not difficult at all, if not as fast as with a full size folder, for obvious reasons. Complaints I saw about the choil and spine edges being "sharp" are exaggerated, Granted they aren't rounded and polished, but I rubbed my thumb very hard against them on purpose without any discomfort. You'd need extremely sensitive skin to call those parts sharp. Good pocket clip. Light weight. Zero blade play while open or closed. Blades are perfectly centered in the slot while closed if that matters. The red model is not actually PINK, it's rhubarb red. No comment about the knives' usage because they are gifts but I own a cold steel kudu (also 4116 steel) which I cut down to the same size and blade shape, and it's been my favorite EDC for ten years, so I know pretty much what to expect from the mini tuff lite. Although its 4116 is probably harder than the kudu. In short, whoa. What an awesome utility folder. Now I wish I bought myself one.

Great Little Knife!
It came in hot pink which is actually good if you use this in an office. I got reactions like " OO that's so cute" while if it was black they would have called security on the guy with the knife.. If Benchmade or Spyderco made this, it would cost 4 times as much.
