CS39LSFCT: 39LSFCT Leatherneck-Tanto

Cold Steel

This tough, combat-ready fixed blade has a distinct and iconic blade style, which has been proven to be exceptionally popular with our brothers and sisters in the armed forces:

The 39LSFCT Leatherneck-Tanto features the classic signature Cold Steel style Tanto blade with a stout reinforced tip for extra strength and durability.

The blade is made from German D2 Tool Steel and finished with a non-reflective, highly scratch resistant black powder coating.

To keep the fingers from sliding forward onto their keen edge, the Leathernecks come with a superior solid steel guard. Made of thick steel with double quillons that are turned slightly forward to provide excellent protection for your hand while offering minimal interference in the use of these knives when performing utility tasks.

The handles are made of deeply checkered Griv-Ex that totally encompasses the Leathernecks extra wide, full tang. They offer unsurpassed gripping power through their palm hugging oval cross section and unique finger trough.

The Leatherneck handle is capped with a thick, machined steel butt cap (not cheap casting or plastic like others on the market today) so they can also deliver frightful blows with the butt or even double in an emergency as a hammer.

To carry the Leatherneck safely and conveniently in all environments, it comes with a sturdy and versatile Secure-Ex sheath, complete with fully detachable and ambidextrous belt loop.

Tough good balance and very sharp
This is a collector´s item for me so I have not tried it outside but it looks tough as nails. I slashed paper at home with the knife cutting it like butter, it comes extremely sharp and oiled from the factory with the usual Cold Steel Securex sheath. I like the paint job, the balance of the knife, and the great grip the handle has, just be warned that the knife has a very ample blade and it feels like a small machete more than a knife. It is perfect for slashing but I don´t think it is suitable for piercing wood since it will need some strength from your part given wide blade that has not been trimmed down at the tip like other models do, but that also makes the blade harder to crack and more robust.Overall, good knife for camping and survival, not so good for hunting, I would get the Bowie model of this knife if piercing is important for you.

Tough knife
This a tough knife. The feel, the heft and balance inspire confidence in it's use. I bought 2 from knife center when the price was ridiculous low. One sits next to my go bag in the car and the other in my nightstand. I wouldn't hesitate to butcher a hog, baton some firewood or use it as a last ditch defense.
