Cold Steel

The Cold Steel Recon Tanto was designed for today's modern warriors. A much loved and appreciated knife by the Military and Law Enforcement Special Units, it was developed to withstand the harshest abuse and the toughest possible conditions. The signature Cold Steel Tanto point is specially reinforced to stay sharp even when encountering modern body armor - tested right in their HQ by punching through 55-gallon steel drums!

This classic design is now available with SK-5 high carbon steel. It is the Japanese equivalent of American 1080, a high carbon steel with carbon between 0.75%-0.85% and 0.60%-0.90% manganese. As quenched, it has a hardness near Rc 65 and produces a mixture of carbon rich martensite with some small undissolved carbides. The excess carbide increases abrasion resistance and allows the steel to achieve an ideal balance of very good blade toughness with superior edge holding ability.

A LOT OF KNIFE FOR THE MONEY
I'V' BOUGHT FEW COLD STEEL KNIVES OVER THE YEARS ...THEY'VEALWAYS BEEN A NICE PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE POINT ...THE 49LRTTANTO WAS ANOTHER GREAT ONE... IT CAME SHAVING SHARP OUTOF BOX ... IT'S BUILT LIKE A TANK.. THE GRIP IS A LITTLE NARROW FOR MY HAND BUT NICE MATARIAL. THE SHEATH IS ALSO VERYGOOD HOLDS THE KNIFE SECURE ..DOES'NT RATTLE AT ALL.

A Great Bang for the Buck Knife
This knife is a great example of bang for buck. It's a very solid combat knife that can also do bushcraft. The Kydex sheath is great with the knife snapping in. You don't need to worry about it slipping out if the strap isn't snapped around it. The only thing is that it is a little large, 7 in., but it's built like a tank. If you come across it, definitely buy it. You can't go wrong with this knife..
