CS97TKMS: 97TKMS Tactical Katana Machete

Cold Steel

The latest addition to the Cold Steel Katana Machete series, the Tactical Katana is closely modeled after the hugely popular and record breaking Warrior Series Katana.

With its deeply curved blade, it offers more "sword-like" cutting performance, and with its broad full tang, solid steel tsuba and injection over-molded high impact polymer handle its incredible durable.

We spared no expense to re-create the look of a traditional cord wrapped handle, fushi and kashira but using modern materials that will not shrink, warp, tarnish or rot and require very little maintenance to retain peak performance.

Fully sharpened in Cold Steel's Ventura HQ, the Tactical Katana Machete comes complete with a Cor-Ex back sheath for ease of carry and storage.

Hard-core Machete
This machete is bad to the bone. It’s razor-sharp right out of the box. It can slice through paper like a razor. It’sHeavy and balanced. The grip is fantastic, your hands stay right where you hold them. overall for the price, I think this is a great self-defense weapon.

My favorite outdoor tool
I'm always looking for an excuse to bring out the katana machete, but there just aren't enough opportunities. Cutting through thick overgrowth and small saplings is very therapeutic for me, and the broad Katana profile is surprisingly adept for this task. The factory edge was serviceable at best and I have certainly worn it down over the years. Due to its size and thin stock, it still produces pretty clean cuts (despite never having a great edge) and you can hook loose brush over the spine to toss it out of the way. The blade can flex quite a bit during this task - a prybar it is not. I have several machetes and loppers but this seems to be the most efficient for brush-clearing. Looking forward to giving it a proper and full resharpening. Five stars for meeting and exceeding realistic expectations for the price.

This thing is Diesel
When I was ordering this I was afraid it might be cheap & plastic-y... but it's not. Feels almost like a real katana, high quality polymer handle, steel guard, super strong blade. The blade is pretty thick but still has a tiny bit of flex to it. Definitely feels solid & quality.I chopped into some small dead trees with it, this thing's like an axe, without so much as a dent in the edge. I cut a small tree in half with this around 1-2 inches thick. Glides thru regular brush or plants. Serious cutting power. Thrusting power is no joke either. Can easily be weilded with one hand, not too heavy... it's a little tip heavy due to the light polymer handle but not too bad if you have some stregth. Some people were complaining about the bumpy handle (it's not wrapped it's just solid plastic). I had no issues with it... it is a little bumpy but that also improves the grip- there's no way this thing is slipping out of your hands. Anyway if it bothers you that much just wear some gloves ya pansies! My only complaint is I wish the sheath were a little more katana-like... but still a good sheath. Can't really complain for this quality at $40... thats the price of a mid range pocket knife, and you're getting a fully functional battle ready katana.Excellent cutting or beater katana if you dont want to mess up or sharpen your nice ones. Also great for trimming bushes & doing yard work! A lot more fun than a clipper!
