Down Under Knives

The Kookaburra 440C stainless blade is heat treated to approximately RC52 to withstand the stress of repeated impacts - yet it still maintains a sharp edge so it can be used as a proper utility knife, unlike most throwers on the market today. Sharp enough to cut like any good hunting knife, heavy enough to chop like a full-size Bowie, and resilient enough to withstand continuous throwing practice, this blade is truly as versatile as they come.

Jack of all trades though it might be, make no mistake... there's absolutely nothing halfway about this knife. We started by designing the best throwing knife we could think of, then gave it a touch of the classic Outback™ bowie profile and an edge that compromises nothing in terms of sharpness, edge retention or utility value. This throwing knife has just about all the features we've ever liked on a fixed blade knife, with none of the shortcomings that so often let an otherwise perfect blade down. In case you can't tell yet, yes we bloody well are excited about it. Try one and we'll pretty much guarantee you will be too.

After all, what could be better than finally being able to carry a single knife for any purpose you could think of? The way we figured it, the answer was obvious: carrying two. That's why the Kookaburra™ comes as a set of two in a patterned heavy leather sheath that takes up no more valuable belt space than any quality hunting knife.

bowie type throwing knives
I believe I have had at least 25-30 sets of throwing knives ranging from cheap novelty store knock-offs to expensive Gill Hibben knives, Almost any knife can be thrown... what makes a "throwing knife" is its durability, point retention, and sure, balance even though balance came be overcome withe practice.(I used to throw mom's kitchen knives before i grew up and got a job) I would say these knives are very well constructed, I would like to see a better sheath. over all the knife is great it is sharp however not "razor" sharp. it dose have a nice weight id say "hefty" the leather wrap around the handle is not the best material but it dose add a ok grip i would recommend these to a beginner thrower. it is always best to learn with heavier knives. on a personal note I love the knives!!!

Great Knives
I have been throwing these knives at 3/4" plywood and they show almost no signs of wear. The tip of the knife has remained very sharp despite hundreds of throws. The edge does get dull but quickly resharpens. I am very glad that the order comes with two knives; this allows one to be thrown and the other to remain sharp. Overall these are great knives that are well balanced with a great weight. I strongly recommend them to any one who enjoys throwing knives.
