Gerber FlatIron

I use the Gerber FlatIron as an everyday carry. I like the feel and the blade arrived sharp and shiny. The only concern with the knife is the lock, it seems to get jammed making it difficult to close the knife. Other than that, I think it was a great purchase for the price.

Very poor quality

Very bad quality on this knife. Out of the box it came dull and the micarta was frayed around the edges looking like jeans that needed to be thrown away. There were several pits on the blade. Also it came out of the box so dull it was unable to cut through a plastic bag. Very disappointed in this knife.

Overall good knife

I bought this knife because I had a gift card to Cabela’s and wanted to buy a knife. Overall it is a solid knife. The pluses; it had a very good blade geometry and stock, not the smoothest but good action (pretty average washer action), fills slightly larger than medium hands well, locks up pretty great but not perfect all the time, It is easy to flick with the middle finger and a little wrist action, The blade came very sharp. it looks good. The negatives; the lockup, it doesn’t lock solidly all the time but even when it doesn’t it’s still a good lockup. I won’t close on your fingers. The pocket clip is a bit hard to get onto a medium layer of fabric but it is a solid clip. The knife is a hearty weight. They say it’s 3.9oz. But when I weighed it, it came out to be about 5.5oz. (a bit heavy for my taste but that is opinion) The lock bar hurts my thumb if I close it a lot but it isn’t hard to use. Using it throughout the day isn’t that bad but when I get a new knife I am constantly flicking it and closing it hurt my thumb after a bit.Overall, it is well worth the money. If you like the looks and want the knife I’d say go for it.
