Frogman Bird and Trout Knife
I got my #2 Bird and Trout knife 20 years ago. My wife and I were touring Canada on vacation. I wanted to go to Pictou to see the Grohman Knife plant. We got a complete tour and were very impressed. I have used this knife to prepare trout, bass, and pheasants for the table. The knife handles like a scalpel. I love this knife!

Bird and Trout, and Bear and Beaver, Too!
As I have read in other reviews the loop for belt carry is not huge so I could see that being a problem for some. It does fit my belt but since this knife is not that large I usually keep it in my coat or pant pockets. It has a small handle when compared to some "Rambo" hunting knives but even with my XL sized hands I find it works well for a variety of purposes. I mainly use this knife for preparing grouse and squirrel for the table. I have cleaned a couple of rainbow and brook trout with it (in all honesty I would rather have used a fillet knife, but it did the job when it was all I had with me), and have butchered (and skinned out and fleshed the hides of) two black bear and over a dozen beaver with this knife. Again, there are of course better knives for doing the work of converting these critters into roasts and rugs but sometimes you just want to carry a single smaller knife around that can do it all, from big to small. I have had this knife now for over five years and can honestly say it was some of the best money ever spent. Take good care of this knife and it will take good care of you. Finally, seeing so many formerly great knife companies from the United States and from Europe get bought out and offshored is frustrating. I always check to see where knives are made before purchasing them and am having a hard time finding some of my old favourites (Buck, Gerber) that were actually made outside of China. This knife is made in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Eastern Canada, by a Canadian family business - they work hard and know their craft well.

Excellent!!
I use the knife in the field for the more delicate tasks that require a thinner, lighter blade. I love the way it looks and feels in my hand and the way it takes an edge. I don't think there is any thing wrong with it when used as designed - it's not a throwing knife, and I wouldn't use it to chop wood or skin a bear (although that might be easier than I think).
