The three-sided sharpening surface of all models offers coarse, medium and fine grits. The surface of each grit has a curve to it, allowing the rods to handle tricky blade shapes such as recurves, "S" curves, hawkbills and karambits with ease.

The edges produced are flawless, gap free, razor-sharp and long lasting.

Big improvement over the cheap sharpeners

Bought this to sharpen my chef's knife and replace the cheap two slot sharpener from walmart. I've used it twice and am getting a much better edge than I did with my old sharpener. Time will tell how it holds up. I do wish it was marked to make it easier to tell the difference between the three sides. The coarse side is easiest to identify, the two finer sides are more difficult to distinguish.

Way better than what I'd been using

I've "restored" maybe a half dozen hopelessly dull knives using this sharpening rod. I like it a lot. Good length, comfortable handle. Of course, time will tell if it holds up, but so far so good.If I had to make any criticisms at all, I'd comment on the labeling of the grits. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I need to do a double-look to see the difference between the medium and fine faces. The coarse face is easy to see. I may apply a paint dot or two to help with that. Or, I could just suck it up and remember that if you spin the handle counter-clockwise the grits run C-M-F.Recommended. Would buy again if this one goes missing.

I own two of these and just bought one for my son in law. We are both hunters and sportsmen and I use mine for knives and broadheads. Best sharpener out there. My son-in-law used mine on our last trip together and loved it, so I bought him one for Christmas!! Best 3-sided sharpener put there!! Thanks! Shawn
