The Dividend is more striking than ever with its new Composite Blade and machined and anodized aluminum handle. Kershaw's proprietary Composite Blade Technology joins two steels in one blade. In this case, CPM D2 and Bohler N690. Kershaw put the Bohler N690 on the blade upper to take advantage of its corrosion resistance and exceptional hardness. They put the D2 on the cutting edge to take advantage of its wear resistance, toughness, and excellent edge retention. Then they permanently joined them in a “toothlike” pattern for warbird-like style. The aluminum handles in olive curves gently to fit the hand comfortably. A decorative molded backspacer and left/right reversible pocket clip make the Dividend both handsome and handy.
Features
Features
Flipper - The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
SpeedSafe - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumb stud or pull back on the flipper, built into many Kershaw best sellers.
Liner Lock - Locks the blade open during use; one side of the knife's steel "liner," the steel plate to which the handle scales are attached, moves into position behind the blade to securely lock it open.
4-Position - The user may position the pocket clip for tip-up or tip-down, left or right-handed carry.
Made in the USA - When you see this on one of their knives, it means the knife was made in Kershaw's Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.
Great looking blade. Better than photos. Fast opening but hard to close. Initially stiff but better with use and oil. Bought on line. Color good but could be darker. Great for slicing fruit and veg. Liner lock could have been easier to use. Thin metal should have been thicker.
No Kidding! It arrived under the radar and I missed it! I don't even remember ordering it. BUT I Love It! It's like a grown-up Leek! (It's a toss-up whether I own more Leeks, CRKT M16s, or Civivi Elementums!) (I also own a bunch of 'Gold Class' genre knives!) The ergos are better than the Leek (more handle to grip); comfortable in hand; intruiguing blade steel; powerful aesthetics; deep carry pocket clip; Speedsafe flipper deployment; liner lock; lanyard hole; sharp out of the box; these are all things I look for in an EDC knife! I'm a Happy Camper! (Actually, I haven't camped since I left Vietnam in '66! Though my eclectic 250+pcknife collection includes MANY camping, bushcraft and survival knives, but NO hatchets or axes!) I don't know why anyone would choose to camp if they don't have to! But then I also don't get why some Vets go back to 'Nam to visit; it wasn't pleasant for ME the first time!
I went round and round on purchasing this knife ever since it came out. I finally decided to pull the trigger with KC's Double Points weekend. The composite blade was always intriguing, and I am a sucker for OD green. The quality of materials, the mirror sharp edge, craftsmanship, uniqueness, and action make this knife a value for its price if you're a collector. Unfortunately, for me this knife is going back. The biggest detractor, as another reviewer noted is the very tiny liner lock that is difficult to disengage to close the knife. The knife fails as a tool in that respect since it isn't easy to operate. It is merely a collector's piece because of this in my eyes. Also, I feel the handle is far too busy with the additional milling. Slab sides would have been better since the composite blade deserves all of the attention. The copper brazing is awesome, but mine appeared to have some discoloration on the D2 portion of the steel as a result.
