Description

KS1670TBLKST: 1670TBLKST Tanto Blur

Kershaw Knives

The Tanto Blur offers all the great grip advantages of the other Blurs on the force, but this one offers tactical styling with a modified tanto blade with partial serration.

With its angled shape, the tanto blade provides additional piercing power to penetrate tough materials. The unique shape puts more steel behind the point to support its piercing tasks. We've also found that the short front edge is particularly handy for opening boxes. For razor sharpness, Kershaw hollow grinds the edge. Then for additional versatility, Kershaw added partial serration to the blade, giving you a great tool for cutting through materials such as webbing or rope.

All this makes the Tanto Blur a good choice for situations in which you're going to need to make an impact on your environment. In an emergency, could be a real lifesaver. The Tanto Blur's blade is built of high-performance Sandvik 14C28N stainless blade steel for corrosion resistance and hardness. The black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating provides additional extra corrosion resistance and is non-reflective. Black anodized aluminum handles of durable 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum with sure-grip Trac-Tec inserts complete the Tanto Blur's discrete, matte look.

Features

  • 2-Step Serration
  • Serrations assist in cutting through particularly tough or fibrous material, such as rope or cord. The Kershaw 2-step serration is a more aggressive style of serration.
  • Inset Liner Lock
  • A strip of stainless steel is riveted inside the knife's handle—most commonly when the handle is a lightweight material. This enables us to create a slimmer, lighter knife, while still providing the strength and security of a locking liner.
  • SpeedSafe
  • Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud or pull back on the flipper; built into many Kershaw best sellers.
  • Reversible
  • Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.
  • Made In The USA
  • When you see this on one of Kershaw's knives, it means the knife was made in their Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.

Shockingly good knife
This has become my go-to EDC Knife which I can happily pair with whatever I'm wearing along with whatever EDC flashlight lies next to it.I usually carry a knife and flashlight side by side clipped inside my right pants pocket. I've used a variety of knives in this position and the Blur, much to my shock, immediately replaced all of them. The combination blade is just about perfect in both the straight and serrated portions.I say shock as I generally prefer flippers - but this thing is great and I've retired all my other knives to my home and/or backpack.Admittedly it doesn't hold an edge like my S35VN EDC so it's not something to shave with, but its size and comfortable handle are ideal for me and it holds an edge well enough that sharpening isn't much needed.

Great EDC
I carried this knife every day for about 8 years-still do sometimes. It’s a great, reliable knife that always worked flawlessly and I was happy with the sandvik steel. It’s a nice step up from the Chinese folders that I carried for a little while before getting into American made knives. I’ve never had any problems with it and I never regretted buying it. In case you’re wondering, it also makes a good cheese knife with its hollow grind. Please note: even though I love the knife, I’m not using any exclamation points (!) in my review because I don’t work for the company. The same reason I’m not gonna tell you to buy it. I don’t care if you buy it or not.

Terrific Every Day Carry knife
I have been carrying my tanto Blur almost every day for about six years. The tanto tip and serration make the knife very versatile. It opens quickly with little effort and stays open until you release the lock. It has flicked open inside my pocket a couple of times through the years but no damage was done. After years of EDC use, one of the rubber grips has finally come unglued and fallen so I have opened a warranty case for it.All in all it's probably my favorite pocket knife ever, and I have had hundreds of knives since I was small.
