KS2085: 2085 Brace Fixed Blade

Kershaw Knives

Many appreciate the convenience of small neck knives, but actual utility is sometimes overlooked. That's where the Brace comes in. Despite its small profile, the fixed blade has many features that enhance grip, including a curved handle guard design, jimping, and a front handle cutout for an alternate thumb grip. These grippy additions let users get the most out of its 2-inch blade. During travel, secure the knife in a polypropylene neck sheath. Its dual-retention system keeps the Kershaw secure. With the sheath, the full-tang knife only weighs 1.6 ounces. The Brace is easy to carry, but it also packs a punch as a utilitarian winner.

Features

  • A full-tang neck knife for travel and utility

  • Molded sheath features a dual-retention system for secure carrying; knife can be sheathed whether its flipped left or right

Excellent little fixed blade EDC for the price
I love this little knife and its dorky little sheath. I have a few other utility EDC neck knives but this might be my favorite.

I carry a variety of little knives around in an urban environment. I like these small fixed-blade neck knives when something is too tricky for the penknife but the environment is too low-key to pull out a 3" flipper. Ultimately they might be the most indispensable of my EDC knives: good enough for most jobs, harmless enough for most bystanders. Assuming it's legal to carry any knife at all, you should be fine carrying this one concealed (but please check your local laws).

I like this neck knife the most of my collection because the blade is a small drop point with a generous choil: it's usable for almost any small-to-medium cutting task, depending on where you put your thumb or forefinger. Typically I prefer a sheepsfoot or Wharncliffe, but the size and control on this makes it a pleasure to use.

The sheath and lanyard are really nice for neck carry: comfortable, discreet, and easy to use. I am sure you can use it for pocket carry, or attach it to a clip for the belt. But I think it is best worn between your undershirt and overshirt.

The blade is tough to sharpen, both because of the size and the steel. But it retains an edge for a long time, does seem scratch-resistant, and you really shouldn't be using this for tough cuts anyway. It was sharp enough out of the box that I had no problem breaking down old and gnarly cardboard.

For the price this is really a no-brainer. Also seems like a nice gift.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Weight
Cons: None
Great little knife
This is a perfect small edc knife - super lightweight, very thin, and the sheath is symmetrical so blade can go in either way. I fitted mine with a slim ti pocket clip and it’s great for light shorts, sweats, joggers etc. As a neck knife, it’s also ideal. It’s up to most everyday tasks, obviously it’s not a hard use work knife. Good edge on it, and nice shape feels good in hand.

Just OK
Nice little knife for concealed item. Knife doesn’t feel like it sits to secure in sheath.
