The popularity of Kershaw's Launch 4 has launched several new smaller automatics for 2019.
This is the Launch 9. And while it may look like a smaller version of Kershaw's best-selling Launch 2, the Launch 9 has its own special appeal. Its compact size makes it easy to carry - and appropriate in a variety of situations where you wouldn't pull out a more aggressive-looking knife. It offers a refined look; almost a gentleman's automatic. But only “almost.” This Launch 9's drop-point blade is made from Damascus steel.
Like the rest of the Launch series, the Launch 9's handle is anodized aluminum. In this case, it's anodized in basic matte black for everyday good looks. A push-button on the handle opens the knife quickly. Push the button again to release the blade to fold it back into the handle.
The Launch 9 features an integrated backspacer with a lanyard hole - perfect for a paracord attachment - and a reversible (left/right, tip-up) pocket clip.

Fantastic!
I love this knife. I was looking for an everyday utility carry blade and I had 3 criteria. First, less than 2” blade, great steel, automatic open. This knife excels at all of those. I really like the comfort of a small blade for everyday carry but wanted a premium cutting tool. I work in a trade that uses fine wood carving tools and I wanted a pocket knife that could hold an edge to those standards. I sharpened the knife with my process and got an impeccable edge on the Damascus. I know there are others steels that will outperform Damascus but this blade took a super fine edge and holds it well with use. Its action and fire is that of a fine firearm. The blade snaps open strongly and feels good in the hand for a small knife. Everything about this knife screams quality. I am extremely impressed and feel confident it will serve me well for many, many years.
