The "Gladio Alato" project by Maserin was initiated to provide the personnel of the 66th Airborne Infantry Regiment "Trieste" with a specialized dagger that embodies the spirit, symbolism, and needs of the unit. In collaboration with CFA, Maserin developed the 966 fixed blade knife. Its square blade is reminiscent of the Gladio, from which it takes its name, while the handle features a classic military tactical design of black G10 with high-grip texturing. Featuring a compound/flat ground blade and a modified spear point blade shape, this pointy tactical knife excels with piercing and slicing tasks alike.

Considering the tactical requirements of the unit, The Gladio Alto fixed blade has been enhanced with features suitable for emergency situations, including a glass breaker with a slot and two holes on the guard, allowing the knife to be attached to other elements or objects.

The 66th Airborne Infantry Regiment "Trieste," the only airborne infantry regiment in the Italian Army, is based in Forli, part of the Friuli Airborne Brigade, and staffed by volunteer personnel.
