My favorite small neck knife
The MKM Jesper Voxnaes Mikro 1 is a very small knife. The cutting edge is just under 2 inches. The handle is about 2.5 inches. I get a secure two-finger grip on the skeletonized handle, but my hands are a bit smaller than average. If you have big hands, you might prefer a bigger knife.The Mikro has a leather sheath with magnets. At first I thought the magnets were a bit too strong. But now, after trying over a dozen neck knives, I think the Mikro sheath is the best of all. It does take a firm tug to draw the knife, but I don't have to yank it so hard that the sheath flies up over my left shoulder as soon as the knife pops out (like the Spartan Blades Enyo, Elite Grade).I don't think the Mikro could ever fall out of the sheath with just the magnets holding it in, but for complete security, there is a strap that goes through the finger notch and snaps shut.For safety, I replaced the leather lanyard with a breakaway steel ball chain. The magnets can hold the steel chain neatly coiled up against the sheath.You can get the Mikro with a naked steel handle or with scales of various boring colors. I prefer the naked steel--I find it surprisingly comfortable, and putting a finger through the skeletonized handle makes the knife easier to draw.The blade is M390, which is my favorite steel. Out of the box, the Mikro easily push-cut typing paper.If you are going to do a lot of heavy-duty cutting, a larger knife would be better. But for a small knife, the MKM Jesper Voxnaes Mikro 1 is a winner.
