Description

MNTMK4GSW: MK-4GSW Vuja De, OD Green

Mantis Knives

The Vuja De blends two unique styles, the balisong and the karambit. Taking from both styles and making their own, the Vuja De has transitioned from a risky design to a fan favorite in a short amount of time.

The M-VX stainless steel blade is forged into a hawkbill blade, a very common characteristic in Karambit knives. The 2" blade fits perfectly with the smaller stature of this knife and the M-VX is characterized as tough as a coffin nail, so it is more than capable of completing tasks. G10 handles are durable and work well in slippery conditions. The Vuja De is unlocked with a button and locks by flipping the latch. Also included are a tip-up pocket clip and an enlarged pinky hole.

I love it, but not perfect from the factory
I use this version of the Vuja de as an EDC and a work knife every day. The handle is the most comfortable of any karambit I've checked out. I wear a size small mechanix glove; my husband wears an XL and says it is uncomfortably tight on both the ring and the length of the grip. I don't do complicated flipping, but opening and closing into forward and reverse grips one-handed is easy if you can hit the button, which does break in with use. The ringed bite handle is longer than the safe handle and the blade, meaning you can unlock the knife, grip the ring, and swing it open with your fingers clear. Like most production knives, it came with a steep, somewhat sharp edge. With a steeper grind, it cuts like the dickens, while not really looking like a knife when closed and sporting a short blade. This isn't a useless toy, but you will have to tweak the screws and lubricate a little to smoothly flip without using any force. The MV-X blade steel, which no one else seems to use, holds a good edge under my very aggressive grind, and comes back easily with stropping. The ring is a hardened steel, possibly MV-X. Yes, you can strike with it, but the screws aren't that thick. The ring lets you catch your preferred finger in the grip the draw from your waistband, pocket, boot, etm. TL;DR Yes, it's finicky compared to a lockback or crossbar knife, but the coolness factor is matched by it's utility once it's open.

Great knife and quick service
The Mantis Balisong is a great knife. The look and feel of it is great. It would have been a 5 rating except the one downfall is the push button to open the knife doesn't always work as I expect. I think it may possibly need more working in though. All around I like the knife and Knife Centers quick shipment which I would recommend Knife Center and the knife to others.

Fun blade but I would not defend my life with it.
The blade is on par with a 440c doesn't come super sharp but it is sharp enough to cut you. The pocket one screw strips the other doesn't want to come out because it's lock Tite I'm and you can't unscrew it. I just took the clip off and not planning on carrying. This is just a fun blade to work with and keep it in my collection. If you want something the same size look at Spyderco Karahawk and it's waveable. The fox karambit it nice I prefer the 478 or 479 to the spderco because to the longer blade if you want the best go with the Emerson super Karambit.
