Microtech Knives

Designed by Microtech and manufactured by Rike Knife, the Socom Bravo Mini is a collaboration knife patterned after the classic Socom. This compact manual folder is an excellent heavy-duty tactical knife. It features a bolstered 6Al4V titanium handle with carbon fiber scales and is offered in both single edge and tanto edge blades. A lanyard hole and pocket clip make for functional carry and the ergonomics are still some of the best in the industry.

Not a flipper
I don’t want to discourage anyone from getting this knife if you’re looking for a super high quality knife, however if you’re looking for a flipper knife this is not the knife for you. I absolutely cannot flip this knife open with one hand. The quality of the materials and the lockup is second to none. The frame lock is tight as can be. The sound of the lockup is strong and wonderful. The blade has no play. My only complaints are that the detent with the frame lock is so strong that it’s impossible to flip open one-handed, and the handle is a bit small toward the end, which gives it a bit of a small knife feel. The quality of the knife overall makes it a nice addition to my collection, however I wish the ergonomics would have been thought out a bit more. If the detent was a bit lighter and the handle was a tiny bit wider and/or thicker toward the butt, this knife would be an easy 5 star.

Excellent knife, just what I wanted the SOCOM Bravo to become!
I love the original SOCOM Bravo, but it is a rather large knife. That doesn't bother me, but it does mean that it can get a little bit more attention when used in public than I sometimes prefer. It also bounces around a lot in shorts. The answer is the SOCOM Bravo Mini. While only giving up .5" of blade length, the knife looks and feels significantly smaller than the original. The blade is much thinner too, make it a better slicer. There were no sacrifices on the ergonomics, as it fits my hand well. The only potential negative is that it has a very strong detent and very grippy thumb studs. The amount of force to open with the pad of my thumb is shredding the skin. I usually use my nail to thumb flick, and that is really the only way to open this knife one handed. If I try to slow roll it, it just flies open like an assisted opener because of the force required to overcome the detent. Still, I will take this over a weak detent any day.
