Ohta Knives

The Ohta OFB SS 65 Fixed Blade is awesome in every way. It's originally designed to be a fish fillet knife but its slender profile and rock-solid construction lend it to be used whenever and wherever you can. Clip it onto your belt loop or around your neck for a great EDC fixed blade or keep it on your desk to slice open your mail. The OFB SS is a gorgeous design from Hiroaki Ohta that is just a pleasant knife to hold and to use. The blade is made from D2 tool steel with a satin finish. The thin, straight handle is ironwood with nicely contrasting black pins. It feels like a pencil in your hand the profile is so slender and it includes a leather drop sheath with dangler carry method. Handmade in Japan.

I use the knife regularly, it is such a small exotic gem, it resembles a scalpel in general except that it has a handle made of exotic wood of dark brown to black color. The strange thing about the pockets is that it is not smooth, but resembles a rough surface with its structure, what do you think about it. I really appreciate that it does not slip in your hand, which is a big advantage even in a wet hand. What is great about it, it simply has no flaws, the workmanship is perfect in all respects, it is the work of a master knifemaker. The only thing I would change is the sheath - the case, which is too massive and the hinge is inappropriate in my opinion, it would be better if it were possible. Wear the knife around your neck and adapt the case to be worn on a belt, but also vertically on the neck. Hats off to you
