OP123080: N08 Folding Knife Stainless Steel

Opinel Knives

The Opinel N08 is the most popular and versatile size in the ever-growing line of Opinel folding knives. This knife is small enough to be used as a pocket knife and its 3.28" blade is capable for most all of your cutting needs. Stabilized beechwood is ultra-resistant and comfortably contoured to fit the hand. The blade is made from 12C27 Sandvik Stainless steel, which will not rust, however, try to avoid leaving your Opinel knife in damp environments for too long and dry the blade after each use.

Safety

  • This knife features the Virobloc Safety ring. The Virobloc safety ring was invented and implemented in 1955. This simple yet effective locking system greatly improved the original knife. The ability to help prevent the blade from opening when closed was added to the Virobloc in 2000.

Gentleman's steak knife
My review is based only on using the knife for this purpose alone. I hate the dull, serrated junk steakhouses give you that rips and ruins the expensive cut of meat you pay for as well as your eating experience. I use these as a gentleman's steak knife option instead. Cheap, sharp, stainless, slicey, and won't scare the snowflakey waiter or waitress as it looks like it belongs on the table and they don't even notice it. So cheap I keep several around.

What a great little knife!
I've been hearing about these knives for years and sort of threw this one onto my order just to see. I wasn't expecting a lot but I have to say I'm impressed. The blade is super thin and really good at slicing. The day I got this I needed to slice some roma tomatoes so I grabbed this just to see how it did and I'd say it sliced better than my actual kitchen knife. The blade is super sharp and thin and cut really thin slices of tomato super easy. This has now become my "desk knife" and lives there for every day use. I liked it so much I'm going to buy a Number 12 just to keep in the kitchen!
