RC6HMB: ESEE-6HM-B, Modified Handle

ESEE Knives

The ESEE-6 was the first large knife for ESEE Knives and quite possibly the finest balance and fit they had ever designed. It was a great all-around tactical, survival, camping, and hunting knife and one we highly recommended at the KnifeCenter. It is now available in a Modified Handle model, set up more for hunting and bushcrafting type tasks as it is equipped with a brown leather drop sheath.

These knives are made from high carbon 1095 steel. And while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH.

Whoa!
I have been wanting this knife for a while. Have an esee 5 and soon as the new handle came out for the 6 I knew I had to have it. Out of all 70+ knives I own, this may be the most perfect all around knife I have. So excited to put it through its paces on the next backpacking trip.

6HM Modern Take on a Trade Knife
The 6HM is what I look at as a good all around knife. Not too small and not overly large. I've used mine mostly outdoors in the backcountry and done everything from processing small logs down into useable fire wood to carving notches into sticks for pot hangers and the like. It's not overly thick or heavy, but has done all the tasks I've given it well. Not the biggest fan of the coating on the blade, but this could be removed if desired. To me it feels like a modern take on the historical French and English trade knives. The 6HM is definitely a solid knife to take with you out in the bush, and in my mind could easily fit into the "one tool option" category if that's what you're looking for.
