RMJRAIDER: Raider Dagger Fixed Blade

RMJ Tactical

Years ago when Ryan Johnson was making a special order knife for a SWAT team member, a good friend and resident critic John came by the shop to look the knife over. "The tip is too narrow and thin," he said. "It will break if the person using the knife tries to pry something open." Ryan told him that this knife was not meant to be used as a pry-bar, just for cutting.

John then said something that both defined the word "tactical" and, most importantly, changed Ryan's design paradigm forever: "The situations this person finds himself in should determine what this knife is used for. If he needs to cut something, it cuts. If he has to pry a door open, it's a pry-bar. These are high-energy situations where every second counts. You can't carry everything you would like to carry; the knife will have to be able to complete a multitude of tasks."

In a perfect world, a soldier or law enforcement officer would have ready access to all of the tools and weapons he ever needed, but that just isn't possible. It takes more than an aggressive look or a gray and black finish to make a fixed blade a tactical knife. Remember, knives meet the needs of the soldiers and frontiersman as both a tool and weapon in the battlefield conditions they encounter. In Ryan's view, a contemporary tactical fixed blade should be able to withstand all modern battlefield conditions — areas ranging from the Salt Lake City, Utah, Olympics, to the Jungles of South America, to the rugged mountains in Afghanistan. (RMJ Tactical knives have been carried in all three).

Designed for Marines Special Operations Command, the Raider Dagger is one formidable tactical tool. It's a modern day take on the World War II Raider Dagger, adjusting steel, design and carry system for the modern day battle space. It measures 9.875" overall with a 5.375" double edge CPM-3V tool steel blade wearing a tungsten Cerakote finish. Proudly made in the USA.

You Most Likely Won't Want To Get A Scatch On It:
From the sick c+c milled out blade grind, how it's made out of one solid pattern, nice and chunky piece of steel that thins down to an evil sharp tip. Or the low angles on each blade set perfectly. Four even strokes? The most well crafted blade I've held in my hands anyways, but one problem. She's so pretty you're gonna want to keep her safe and sound, not let a scratch get on her.

Pointy and sharp
My knife arrived in 2 days. It has a great feel in the hand. Super symmetrical on every facet of the blade. So sharp it doesnt need a touch up. The point, enough cant be said about that other than ouch. Don't test that out on your finger unless you need to test your blood sugar levels. The sheath fits very snugly, pretty sure the protective cerakote will wear off quickly in spots that rub on the unsheathing/resheathing. Ordered the leather sheath for it, hoping it will save the coating better. Will add a review when i get it.
