SNSFBL11BK: Field Grade POROS Folding Knife - Black

Spartan Blades

The POROS flipper was designed by Curtis Iovito as a robust and full-sized folding knife. This blade's high grind lines combined with a sharp piercing drop point make it a trusted companion for everyday carry. Its quick flipper action is thanks to the IKBS Bearings and it definitely has the 'Snap" you are looking for! Its distinctive scallops are not only beautiful but provide a sure grip. The deep carry pocket clip maintains a low profile while keeping your blade ready when needed. The blade is 154CM stainless steel with black titanium nitride coating and the stainless steel hardware and liner have black electro-deposit powder coating.

All Spartan Blades Bronze (Field) Grade folders incorporate their "Oil-Infused Bronze Bushing System" or "OIBBS"! These sintered bronze bushings are impregnated with oil which reduces the friction on the blade, thus giving you a tight but smooth blade opening. This system is especially useful for slow speeds, intermittent use, and uneven loads such as are found on folding knives.

Great Folding Knife
Spartan Blades produced a great folding knife with the POROS. I own a lot of Spartan Blades, and this is a well designed EDC knife. It's easy to open and close. It's handle feels good, and it's easy to grip. In addition, the knife is sharp, well balanced, and easy to use. My knife doesn't have blade heel exposure. It is well tucked under the handle. I'm a knife collector, and I give the POROS 5 out of 5 stars. It meets all of my criteria for a folding knife. Being manufactured in Taiwan doesn't bother me a bit. It's not China, and that's a big plus. The pocket clip is perfect, and the cover on the opposing side of the handle is a nice addition. I highly recommend this folder. Great service from Knife Center, too.

Disappointed
I had been wanting this one for a couple months; ever since it was unveiled. I was initially super happy. The knife was everything I hoped it would be. Great look and feel, excellent action, beautiful blade with excellent finishing, and excellent lock up. I also love the folded-over liner lock tab. Not enough companies do that. It allows for extra surface area engagement of the liner with the blade's lock face/tang. BUT, after a few minutes playing with the knife, I noticed a hazardous flaw: the heel of the edge almost protrudes out the back of the handle when in the folded position. It presents a very real cut hazard. I'm often one to overlook small flaws in a knife if I just like the design, but I can't overlook a safety hazard. I'm pretty bummed, because I was really excited about this one. I might just have to return this one. Thanks to KC for good service and shipping.
