SPK04PBK: K04PBK Kitchen Utility Knife

Spyderco

Spyderco's involvement in kitchen knives dates back to the early 1980's and the beginnings of the company's knife production. After being discontinued a number of years ago, they are now back by popular demand and better than ever. Our current kitchen knives combine all the distinctive features of the originals with an improved handle material that offers increased durability.

The K04 Utility Knife has a 6.5-inch drop-point blade that is ideal for a broad range of kitchen cutting chores, making it the most popular "go-to" knife in many home and commercial kitchens. Like the original version, it features a premium MBS-26 stainless steel blade, ground exceptionally thin and meticulously heat treated for optimal cutting performance. Its durable polypropylene plastic handle is injection molded directly onto the tang of the blade and features a distinctive "stepped" texture pattern that provides exceptional comfort and control during use.

This version of the K04 features a breathtakingly sharp plain edge blade and a black handle.

Knife Center has an excellent selection of kitchen knives, kitchen accessories, cutlery, and kitchen gadgets.

Versatile
Love it, light and sharp and a very versatile size. Only complaint is that the handle could be 1/4-1/2” larger, I have large hands and it feels a tiny bit cramped. Smaller hands should fit perfect.

Great slicer
I was glad to see this knife back in production, since I had missed out previously. It is very light weight and the blade is thin but durable so far. I work as a grocery store meat cutter, and this knife has performed flawlessly for several weeks now. It came sharp, and has remained so with only light honing on a fine stone, and that mostly for fun and practice. The edge has not rolled or deformed after contact with bones and the cutting block. The bright steel has darkened (not rusted) a bit from use and washing/storing but I don't mind and think it adds some character. The handle is comfortable after hours of continuous use and provides a solid grip when slippery. This knife can handle large pieces of meat better than some of my bigger knives (all ordered through KC of course), and makes trimming and fine slicing a breeze. If it can handle "serious professional" cutting tasks, it will certainly excel at modest kitchen cutting.

The best all around kitchen
So far we think the length and size of this knife makes it the most versatile knife in the kitchen. We cut a lot of vegetables and some fruits, all the way to different kinds of meats. This knife appears to be thin enough to even fillet fish. Right out of the box it was razor sharp and ready to perform. I think it will be very hard to find a better knife for the money. Spiderco is the dang sure way to go.
