The model 1945 is similar to the VTR Von Tempsky Ranger, but with slight yet deliberate modifications. The 1945 is also a more carriable knife design measuring in at 11" overall with a 6-3/8" carbon steel blade. It's got the same excellent leather sheath as the Ranger model, with a belt loop and button snap closure. The main difference this has from the VTR model is that the hardwood handle is replaced with brushed Aluminum. This material is much more durable and resistant to the elements making for a longer lasting handle. It has a small lanyard hole as well as two holes built into the guard to make attaching the knife to a stick or pole much easier and more secure. You can't go wrong carrying this knife every day as it's solidly built and spectacular looking but be mindful that you will need to oil the carbon steel blade regularly to prevent oxidation or rust spots forming.
