The Dan 1 and 2 models answer to a specific contemporary need; to carry a knife suitable for everyday life which is not considered offensive that can be easily opened with one hand but comes out without a locking system. The Dan is just that knife. Designed by Tommaso Rumici, it is Viper Knives' first sports folder equipped with the mechanical Action Stopper, which was thoroughly tested over many years after its debut. This system is similar to that used in the Britola and Regional series; opposing the right resistance to be safe in generic uses, but definitely unsuitable for violent uses. This means that this slipjoint folder is designed for utility tasks but not meant for tactical life-saving operations. The name is followed by a number that identifies the blade shape and hides the acronym "Daily Assorted Needs" that suggests the great versatility of this small folding knife.

The almost perfect EDC.
The almost perfect EDC blade. If this was a flipper with a lock it would be absolutely perfect. Being a slip joint is does take a littlle effort to deploy, but the overall ergonomics of the handle, the quality and the design are wonderful. It hold an edge very well even after a lot day use in a warehouse cutting cardboard and strapping and does not create any hotspots. I wish Viper would make this into a flipper with a lock and it would take it to the next level.
