White River Knives

On the hunt or as an everyday carry, the Backpacker Pro is just the right size for the job. White River's most popular and versatile survival knife is now available in the Pro model with pre-fastened textured G10 handle scales secured by stainless steel bolts that can be removed. The textured G10 material provides a rugged grip, and the knife comes "hair shaving" sharp out of the box. The Kydex sheath can be configured in many options so you can wear this knife on your neck, boot, or belt. 

Kydex is an extremely durable material that stands up to the toughest use without gouging or scratching. It's easy to clean up without damaging the surface or compromising the sheath. The Backpacker sheath design allows you to wear it on a belt in two ways, with the knife handle pointed up or parallel to your belt. It can be fixed for both a right and left-hand grab. You can also string paracord through the sheath and hang the knife from your neck without worrying the knife will slip out.

Like the knife, beware of horizontal carry
I liked the knife. It feels great in the hand and holds it's edge well. I love the size for field dressing deer. My problem is with retention. I've had to go back and look for it several times after it fell out from either scout carry or when secured to my bino harness. It was in the kydex last week when I walked by a trail cam on the way back to the truck. Knife fell out somewhere between there and the parking lot. Hopefully someone finds it and puts it to good use.

Backpacker Pro For The Win !
I got mine at a show before available online. VERY dependable knife for EDC and the field. This 3" fixed locks into my med/lrg hand with perfect traction. Good S35V quality, and wonderful Fit and Finish. One day I'll try ESEE, but White River Knives are where it's at for form and function. Blade's belly is absolutely PERFECT. Great sheath for scout carry. They even left a lil' 1/8" sharpening choil for my Wicked Edge. I said it before; White River punches above it's weight. Grab one and see.

Well made - long wait
Regarding shape and size, it compares well to my ESSE Izula with its aftermarket G10 grip-extenders and exceeds it slightly in comfort. What I spent on the Izula & it’s grips is almost the same as the Backpacker Pro and it has S35VN steel vs 1095. The kydex sheath is better too in my opinion. I also like the textured faces on the G10 which provides incredible retention.The factory edge was adequate and I did very little cutting with it before putting a nice edge on it with a KME. That went well & behaved like well heat-treated S35VN. A bit tough to sharpen but the geometry was excellent and the edge came out nice. This is a gift for my sister to take along a stretch of the Appalachian Trail this summer so I’ve not used it much but I think it will serve her well. The only ‘bad’ about it was an eleven week wait from the time I placed the order until it’s arrival. The website here had stated 2-3 weeks when I placed the order. I actually got shipping notification the same day I planned to cancel the order & look elsewhere. Now that it’s in stock & having had a few days with the knife, I just placed an order for one for myself if that provides an indication of my feelings about the knife. Hope this has been helpful.
