Compression Lock Folding Knives Originally designed by Spyderco, the Compression Lock is a modified liner lock. Instead of a traditional liner lock, it uses a tab on a leaf spring that catches a notch in the open blade, providing a stronger lock. Releasing the lock is done via a cutout (or sometimes a button) on the blade's spine. Like the liner lock, the Compression Lock allows for safe, one-handed closing without the risk of fingers slipping onto the blade.
