What is the CJRB Hyperlite designed for?
The CJRB Hyperlite is designed primarily as an ultralight outdoor, hiking, or everyday carry (EDC) fixed blade. Weighing only 3.5 ounces (and just an extra ounce with its sheath), it offers the strength of a full-tang knife without adding unnecessary bulk to your pack or belt. It excels at quick utility tasks and comfortable, low-profile daily carry.
What blade steel and geometry does the Hyperlite use?
The Hyperlite features a 4.17-inch blade made from AR-RPM9 powder metallurgy steel. It utilizes a flat grind that starts at a mid-height near the handle but gets taller near the tip, providing a stouter spine at the back for push cuts and a slicier belly for skinning or hunting tasks. It is styled in a highly functional drop point blade profile.
How does the handle design impact ergonomics?
The CJRB Hyperlite uses thin G10 handle scales to keep the knife as lightweight and low-profile as possible. The butt of the handle includes a small tab that nods to designer Joe Flowers' machete-design heritage, along with an integrated tiny hex turner. While the slim handle is highly comfortable for quick tasks, it is not intended for hours of heavy-duty carving.
What carry options does the Hyperlite sheath offer?
The Hyperlite's sheath comes with an injection-molded belt attachment that can be rotated for vertical or horizontal carry. While the mounting hole spacing is not compatible with standard Large or Small Tek-Lok attachments, it is compatible with Civivi T-Clips and UltiClips. This makes the system highly adaptable for secure belt carry or slim, inside-the-waistband (IWB) carry.
Is the CJRB Hyperlite suitable for batoning wood?
No, the Hyperlite is not designed for batoning wood or other heavy-duty chopping tasks. With a blade thickness of approximately 0.11 inches, it is optimized for efficient slicing and lightweight trail chores. Forcing it through thick logs can damage the blade, so it is best reserved for camp kitchen duty, skinning, and general utility cutting.
