The Badlands Bowie 2 is just about as menacing as a folding knife can get. It is outfitted with not only an intimidating look but a set of features that allow it to shine as a tactical and/or survival tool. Once you get past the Bowie blade that gives the Badlands its name, you have a set of double flippers, just like the DF Pathfinder, which makes this a true fighting knife. Like the Emerson Wave, the flipper on the spine of the blade will automatically open the knife upon drawing it from the pocket, but it wasn't designed for that. Originally, the Wave was meant for actual knife fighting, protecting the back of your hand if your opponent's blade follows along the spine of yours.

The other thing that sets this knife apart from other tactical designs is the ergonomics. Many ADV handles are indeed similar, but this one is by far the most comfortable we've ever felt. The addition of a second finger groove and the slight curvature of the overall shape (both not found on the original Butcher) make this knife extremely pleasant to hold and use. It features a ball-bearing pivot, roller-ball pocket clip, replaceable lockbar insert/overtravel arrestor, and an inset Torx screw pivot that is the signature feature of Andre's work.
