CIVIVI Knives

CIVIVI Knives are the kind that you give as a gift to a friend, whether or not they're into knives. Anyone will feel the quality and attention to detail as soon as they pick one up yet their price points will signify that these knives are built to be used. As direct competitors against the Spyderco Tenacious and Ontario RAT 1, it's honestly no comparison and we definitely know which is the best choice. Considering the materials are comparable, the amazing action that CIVIVI Knives possesses makes them the knives to beat in terms of the value folding market.

Designed by Ben Peterson, formerly of the Headquarters in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the Banter is named for the video series that he helped pioneer during his time there. Even years after he's been gone, the quality he brought to their videos remains. The Banter was his collaboration with We Knives drawing inspiration from other folding knives with the sole aim at being the perfect EDC piece. We think Ben succeeded and this knife was an impressive tool that hits a lot of marks right on the nose. Now it's available in a mini version, made by We's sister company to bring more value to this awesome design.

First and foremost, the Baby Banter is an ideal size for everyday carry. The 2.34" blade is housed in a compact handle so the overall length is just a hair under five-and-a-half inches. The wide base gives you ample room to grip and places the cutting surface right next to the fingers for more leverage. It's a simple shape with simple G10 and stainless steel liner construction but what it lacks in design aesthetics it more than makes up in terms of ergonomics and strength. It's comfortable, solid, and it just flat out gets the job done. Dual thumb studs allow multiple opening methods but the deep-carry pocket clip is set up for tip-up, right and left-hand carry. The jimping on the thumb ramp is ultra-functional and the lanyard hole is large enough for 550-paracord. Ben thought of everything on the Baby Banter and we welcome it as a small yet strong force to be reckoned with in the growing realm of EDC knives.

Baby banter. Good edc knife.
I have a couple of compact knives from CIVIVI. They are well made and easy to use. Out of the box sharp. They are solid but not heavy and don’t weigh down your pocket. Bigger knives have their purpose and place but can be intimidating. The Baby Banter allows me to have a very capable tool handy but doesn’t feel out of place in urban settings.

Nice little knife
I like it but the base of the blade is sharpened at a steeper angle. I have it most of the way ground out. Got incredibly sharp on my shapton pro's so it must have a really good heat treat

Pros: Weight, Overall Quality
Cons: Pocket Clip
Great knife mediocre pocket clip
This knife is excellent. The blade design is well suited to accomplish every edc task that comes up. I also found that this knife is great for food prep especially when held in a pinch grip at the pivot. The blade is very slicey and came very sharp out of the box and the action is great. My only gripe is the pocket clip. I feel that it is overbuilt for the size of this knife and pinches tightly to the knife body. It can be difficult to get in and out of the pocket especially with sweatpants and gym shorts though at get better as the clip breaks in.
