CIVC230101: C23010-1 Mini Elementum Fixed Blade - Black

CIVIVI Knives

The Mini Elementum fixed blade brings the CIVIVI signature design down to a size perfect for neck carry. Full tang construction provides maximum strength, inlaid handles for a thin form factor, and a minimalist Kydex sheath with a neck chain. Every aspect is well-thought-out and properly executed in this design. The knife itself weighs way less than an ounce, which for about five inches of Nitro-V steel is quite remarkable. Made to be your go-to EDC tool.

So tiny!
It's almost comical how small this knife is. If you're looking for something you can grip and use hard, don't bother with it, but if you want to be able to make quick, light duty cuts without having to carry something bulky, this is excellent. It's nice to look at, has a high quality feel, and is completely non-threatening. I like it.

Too thin
I was looking for a very small, fixed blade for daily carry and expected the length of this knife. However, the pictured do not convey exactly how thin this is; the blade of my QSP Canary fixed is perhaps a mm shy of the maximum thickness of this knife. I literally cannot get any kind of stable grip on this aside from a pinch. This will be the most expensive letter opener I own, because it's too thin for any but feather-light use.

It's not what I thought it would be.
So basically, I thought what I was getting was essentially a fixed blade version of the 1st gen Civivi Elementum. What I got was a reduced version of that. So it was a very small and tiny neck knife. It gives off the impression that it's a display piece. Kind of like those functional tiny firearms. I guess I should have looked at the blade length specs first. That would have been my first clue. Overall what you're getting is a tiny neck knife. It's light. Has a decent edge out of the box and has a decent sheath system.
