CR2425: TJ Schwarz 2425 Scribe Fixed Blade

Columbia River (CRKT)

Crafted for the corner office. Covert is the name of the game when it comes to the Scribe everyday carry fixed blade knife. Instead of a sheath, this shirt-pocket sized knife slips into a cap with a satisfying click, just like your favorite pen, until it's time to slice open a package or trim a loose thread.

Designer TJ Schwarz of Boise, Idaho has a signature design move: things aren't always as they appear. The Scribe tucks perfectly into the lineup with a clean, compact design and a seamless cap that completely conceals the bead-blasted drop point blade. The handle and cap are built of strong thermoplastic and the clip is designed to look like a simple pen clip when tucked into a front pocket.

Flash drive, pen, coffee, Scribe, and you're out the door.

Pros: Weight, Overall Quality
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard
Good, but not great.
It's a nice little knife. Very thin and low profile. The cap needs some work. The blade rattles inside. Cap doesn't fit very snuggly on the back of the knife either, which is a shame. With a little more work it could have been used as an extension. That would have been a nice touch for such a small handle. Blade itself seems fine though. Sharp enough out of the box and it feels pretty solid. A bit heavier than I was expecting. comfortable in the hand, if you have smaller hands. People with big hands will probably find it difficult to use.

The size is small enough to carry around and won't attract unwanted attention. It is great for quick slice of cardboard, tape, and papers.

Solid value for a backup knife.
The knife is light and well built, and small enough to throw anywhere. The blade is nothing special, but it will work in a pinch, and it's a fantastic choice for a backup knife. It manages to remain very compact while still having a large handle through the pen-like sheath.
