The Squid XM is an everyday carry folding knife from designer Lucas Burnley of Bend, Oregon. Based on the concept of a compact pistol, it's small in size and big on ability. Don't let the 2.95" blade fool you; this is a full-on, tactically inspired knife that's ready to take on your largest cutting challenges. By designing it in a drop-point style, Burnley was able to give the blade a good balance of tip strength and point geometry for utility tasks, packing all the functionality of a full-size tactical folder, into an easy-to-carry, compact design.
New for 2025 the Squid XM now comes with a button lock safety mechanism. Deployed smoothly with a thumb stud and gliding on IKBS bearings, you'll think it was still assisted. So go ahead and bring this sidearm with you wherever you go. Just remember, it's loaded.

Gritty Button
There’s a lot to like here. Sharp, holds nice in the hand (I have big hands). Nice clip and easy to open. First one returned. Button didn’t work. Very gritty. Like sand in the works. Except this one didn’t lock up or stay closed without an overly healthy opening. Otherwise the blade was a dead fish. Ok, got shipped a bad one. Knife Center was great in the return. Got the new one. Button lock is still gritty, no more dead fish. Gonna keep this one maybe the grit feel will go away or maybe it won’t. My thoughts it’s the same knife I sent back the first time. Can’t say one way or another. Gritty is tolerable if the lock works each and every time. It does. If they’re all like this, then it’s a design issue. If not, then it’s a quality issue. Civivi gets it right with their bottom locks. Smooth and silky operation.Other than the bottom, sturdy, well made knife.
