An homage to his roots. World-renowned designer Ken Onion made Hawaii home many years ago. So, to pay tribute to his deep love of the island's rich culture and verdant landscape, he designed the Bona Fide everyday carry folding knife to suggest the shape of a traditional Hawaiian waʻa, or canoe. And with Field Strip Gen II, it's just as powerful as it looks.
Years ago from his shop in Kaneohe, Hawaii, Ken Onion invented the first generation of Field Strip technology. With the recrafted, reimagined, and simpler Field Strip Gen II, his creativity has boldly entered new territory. The Bona Fide folding knife is a substantial everyday carry measuring at just over eight-inches from the tip of the strong 1.4116 stainless blade to the end of the strong, lightweight textured aluminum handle. The dropped tip of the blade has both the benefits of modified Wharncliffe and modified drop point and deploys smoothly with the IKBS ball bearing pivot system. Field Strep Gen II lets you quickly disassemble it without tools on the spot to purge it of grease and grime.

How Field Strip Gen II Works
Slide the lever up to disassemble, easily releasing the knife into three components. Place the blade between the two handles in the closed position and slide the lever down to reassemble.

Excellent knife, could have been just a bit better.
This is a nice knife, I only retracted one star because I think with a light spring assist on the deployment it would have checked all the boxes. It is the longest blade for a foldable pocket carry knife I own, and it sits perfectly in my pocket. The handle is comfortable and offers nice control. The blade does deploy smoothly with ease, it would be fantastic if there was just a little nudge from a spring assist. I get it with the takedown design in the handle for easier cleaning but just saying. Overall I am happy with it just gotta remember to use a forceful flick to fully engage the blade.

This is an excellent design both in quality and functionality
I am very happy with my purchase, it arrives sharp right out the box as CRKTs always have for me. The field strip design is why I and anyone else pulling the trigger on this knife purchase and I am pleased to say it works flawlessly and effortlessly. It's as convenient as can be and there's no extra steps beyond moving the switch from position A locked to position B unlocked. Putting it back together is as simple as dropping the blade on the scale and lining up the holes. It's a great edition to any collection and it's got a nice weight, carries in the pocket well ane definitely feels like a real user of a knife. It's got more weight than it looks like it would have due to the design but it's nothing bad by any means but I could see some seeing it as a con but it isn't for me.
