An homage to his roots. World-renowned designer Ken Onion made Hawaii home many years ago. So, to pay tribute to his deep love of the island's rich culture and verdant landscape, he designed the Bona Fide everyday carry folding knife to suggest the shape of a traditional Hawaiian waʻa, or canoe. And with Field Strip Gen II, it's just as powerful as it looks.
Years ago from his shop in Kaneohe, Hawaii, Ken Onion invented the first generation of Field Strip technology. With the recrafted, reimagined, and simpler Field Strip Gen II, his creativity has boldly entered new territory. The Bona Fide folding knife is a substantial everyday carry measuring at just over eight-inches from the tip of the strong D2 blade to the end of the strong, lightweight textured aluminum handle. The dropped tip of the blade has both the benefits of modified Wharncliffe and modified drop point and deploys smoothly with the IKBS ball bearing pivot system. Field Strep Gen II lets you quickly disassemble it without tools on the spot to purge it of grease and grime.

How Field Strip Gen II Works
Slide the lever up to disassemble, easily releasing the knife into three components. Place the blade between the two handles in the closed position and slide the lever down to reassemble.

Big heavy blade, little tiny flipper! Deployment is leisurely, but positive. Love the blade shape on this one. Reminds me of an orca for some reason. The Field Strip feature works as advertised, and blade centering is easy to adjust. The pocket clip is kind of small, but hasn't presented any issues so far. All is well so far! No complaints. We'll see how time tells, but I foresee no issues. Appears very well-built. My first Ken Onion design and I'm a fan. The wife saw it and was particularly taken by it (threatened to steal it!), as it's fairly unique-looking compared to the rest of my EDCs. If you're looking for a unique and well-built D2 design, you can't go wrong here.

A beautiful knife
This is a very pretty knife which is well made. At first, I couldn't figure out how to disassemble it, but a phone call to the company fixed that, and I felt really stupid.The only thing I am not thrilled with are the aluminum handles, but I knew that when I ordered it. It's a bit large for an EDC knife for me, but it is a knife I have no regrets buying.

Very nice CRKT
I have a few CRKT knives and they have been pretty good and when I seen how the Bonafide field stripped I thought it was pretty cool and it was just like I seen it done fast and simple and it came apart just like I seen and to put it back together was simple and fast and I am very pleased with the fit and finish and the workmanship is first class. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to fidget with their knife.
