CRM1601KS: M16-01KS - Spear Point - Black - Designed by Kit Carson
CRKT
The M16 –SS EDC Series - A proven knife design platform made simple, made tough, and made affordable.
If you are a fan of the Kit Carson designed M16 tactical folding knives you are going to want to check out these stainless steel (SS) variations.
Handles are shaped and contoured in the same confident grip M16 style, but are crafted of a retro flavored stainless steel. Handles are all finished in a classic black oxide finish. These folders are available in several blade style options including cutting edge configurations, each with their own user advantages to offer. Blades also feature the Carson Flipper for quick and convenient blade actuation—and the flipper doubles as an effective blade guard in the open position. Blade lock up is secured through the traditional framelock mechanism.
The M16-SS EDC Series is a straight up, "no frills" every day carry folder design that kicks butt in pure performance and value.
Features
Stainless steel pocket clip is movable and provides for convenient carry/access.
A robust, rigid handle/frame construction is tough, yet still overall compact for low impact carry.
8Cr Stainless Steel
One of the most common budget stainless steels, it maintains a competitive combination of edge retention and toughness in its price range.
Steel Handles
Stainless Steel knife handles provide strength and durability and look and feel great.
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
Frame Lock
Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.

Columbia River CRKT M16-01KS Carson Flipper 3.125" Black Plain Spear Point Blade, Stainless Steel Handles
This knife has been my EDC for a few years now. I picked it up as an impulse buy when it had a ridiculous discount after my wife claimed my SOG Flash I. It has proven itself to be a serviceable knife under all conditions that I have used it, and I have used it a lot, like I do all my carry knives.Pros:+ It sharpens easy+ It fits my hand well for heavy use activities (I have medium sized hands)+ It is easy to open with one hand+ It is a very good size for EDC+ The hinge is strong+ The scales are very durableCons:- There is a safety switch you have to activate to move the lock liner for closing the blade- It requires sharpening more often that more expensive knives with designer steels- The hinge bearing is a nylon washer & it requires cleaning from time to timeFor a value/cost ratio, I am giving it 4 stars. I am hard on folders, and this one has surprised me with its durability. It is inexpensive, but not cheap.

Pros: Weight, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Not as good as I thought it'd be
Doesn't flip out like most flippers on ball bearing, you either have to really give it a good flick or nearly always use a flick of the wrist. The thumbstuds are useless, for me anyway. They don't work for me while holding a normal grip like any Manuel knife, they just won't bring the blade out. U almost have to come from a 90° ankle from the blade and push out to get the thumbstuds to work, idk if anyone else has had that problem. Other than those two things, has a good feel and nice blade and look to it, but if your definitely looking for something snappy and a quick and easy flipper, this isn't it.

Pros: Blade Sharpness
Cons: Handle Feel, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type
It's a "No" for me
Blade is very Sharp but that's all this has to offer . It's 100% terrible to open. The thumb studs don't work at all and I mean at all! The flipper tap fails to open the knife 80% of the time. What's the point of having a flipper tab or thumb studs when you have to open the knife with 2 hands.
